Seven day Guernsey weather forecast for 13 June 2022

Monday

Weather

Only the odd puff of cloud in an otherwise sunny day. The gentle N’ly breeze, will bring brilliant visibility and a top temperature of between 18 and 20°C, depending on your precise location, with the warmest spots generally being in Town and along the south coast.

Surf and the Water

The surf will be pretty clean, as the cross-shore wind won’t be as strong as on Sunday afternoon. The waves will be about 3-4 feet around the morning high (roughly 8.5m at 6:09am) and 2-3 around the evening high (roughly 8.8m at 6:37pm). As for the smooth-water activities, every will be pretty good but the south coast will be best of all.

Tuesday and Wednesday

Weather

The wind will be NE’ly for the majority of the time, only light, so not making much difference to the general blue sky and sunshine. However, importantly, it will bring increasingly warm air, such that both daytime and night-time temperatures rise by a degree or two each day… most probably peaking at 20-21°C on Tuesday, then 22-23°C on Wednesday.

Surf and the Water

Small clean surf… 1 foot and only really suitable for young kiddies on Monday, but 2 feet on Tuesday and great for adults with longboards. Lovely smooth water for swimmers and paddle-boarders, especially along the south coast. The tides will be pretty big, with highs in the early-mid mornings and also in the evenings (mostly around 9m or slightly higher).

Thursday and Friday

Weather

The wind will carry on veering around the clock, ENE’ly on Thursday and then SE’ly on Friday. This is really going to pull some hot air over the islands. Thursday will probably peak at 24-25°C and then on Friday we will all be sweating buckets, with temperatures going right up to 28°C in the daytime and only falling to about 16 or 17°C in the night-time. Weather-wise, it’s basically going to carry on being dry and sunny, however, some cloud might well develop on Friday afternoon and evening, which might possibly turn into thundery showers later on Friday night.

Surf and the Water

More small clean surf… mostly around 2 feet so perfect for longboards, but possibly with the odd 3 foot pulse, which could be good for shortboards on a few of the reefs. The smoothest water for swimmers and paddle-boarders, will continue to be along the south coast. The high tides continuing to be around breakfast time and in the evenings (all slightly higher 9m).

The Weekend

Weather

It will probably still hot and sweaty through Saturday morning, but there will be a strengthening N’ly wind in the afternoon, which will eventually bring cooler air to the islands, but that might well come on the other side of some rain or thundery showers. The temperature, will either peak in the low twenties or the mid-twenties, depending on how much sunshine we see. However, on Sunday, we will be firmly in the cooler air. This will probably be a relief to most people, but the NE’ly wind will be fresh force 5, so it will likely become rather irritating after a while, even though Saturday night’s rain or showers should have been replaced by sunshine. To get away from that wind and feel just a little bit of leftover heat, then the best place to hang out will definitely be the south coast beaches and cliff-paths.

Surf and the Water

The surf will get rather messy I’m afraid, without getting any bigger to compensate. However, the south coast will still be nice and sheltered for swimming. However, with the winds being a bit stronger, it might be better to when the tide is higher for better shelter… those highs in the late mornings (roughly 8.8m and 8.4m respectively).

The next forecast update will be on Wednesday evening…
