Saturday
Weather
There will still be some residual heat in the morning, which will be topped up quite nicely by some hazy sunshine, taking us to a max of about 22-23°C. However, the strengthening NNE’ly wind will put a cap on the temperature-rise fairly early… light force 2-3 early morning, moderate force 4 by late morning, fresh force 5 by late afternoon, then strong force 6 in the evening. Apart from that, we are looking at a dry with some cloud at times, but no showers until we get to the night-time period, and there is a chance that those overnight showers could turn thundery.
Surf and the Water
A bit of a dismal day for surfing, with the tiddly 1 foot waves being further ruined by the strengthening cross-shore wind. However, if you enjoy the lumpy slop that we sometimes get at Pembroke from a strong onshore, then there might just be something to mess about with towards dusk. Apart from that, it’s really going to be a day for a bit of south-coast swimming. High water will be roughly 8.8m at 10:22am. Low water will be at 4:40pm.
Sunday
Weather
A few sunny intervals but mostly cloudy, with occasional showers. Those showers heaviest and most frequent in the morning, when some rumbles of thunder aren’t out of the question. Temperatures will be significantly lower than the recent hot days, as the force 5-6 NE’ly wind won’t allow us to climb much higher than the sea-temperature… 17-18°C for the max, but feeling more like 12-13°C due to the wind-chill.
Surf and the Water
Another no-surf day, unless you can make something of the onshore slop up at Pembroke. With south-coast swimming in mind, the best time to go will be around high water, for maximum shelter… 8.4m at 11:12am.
Monday and Tuesday
Weather
These two days will be very similar. Their common characteristics begin with a NE’ly wind (gradually decreasing across the two days, from fresh force 5 on Monday morning to light force 3 by Tuesday evening). Skies will be sunny at times on both days, but there will also be cloudy spells and the chance of a few showers (especially during the late evenings and through the nights). Max temps should be around 19-20°C on both days, but definitely feeling nicest on Tuesday afternoon, due to the lighter winds.
Surf and the Water
No surf to speak of, but with the decrease in the NE’ly wind, the south coast should become better not only for swimming but also for kayaking and paddle-boarding. The tides will be high around lunchtime… 7.9m on Monday and 7.6m on Tuesday.
Wednesday to Friday
Weather
These days will be similar in many ways to Monday and Tuesday… temperatures staying around average, skies mostly sunny but partly cloudy, with just a chance of the odd shower (mainly during the night-time). The big difference however is that the wind will switch direction… force 3 N’ly on Wednesday, force 3 NW’ly on Thursday, then force 4 W’ly on Friday. Town will clearly be the warmest area under this regime, and east coast beaches such as Fermain and Bordeaux will become the loveliest places to hang out.
Surf and the Water
The west-coast surf will stay tiny, just 1-2 feet, but it should be rideable at times, especially for keen youngsters. Swimming conditions will be best along the south coast at first and then the east coast later. High tides will be in the afternoons… 7.3m on Wednesday and Thursday, 7.4m on Friday.
The next forecast update will be on Monday evening…
