Guernsey Weather Fox

Seven day Guernsey weather forecast for 30 June 2022

Thursday

Weather

The WSW’ly breezes will bring a mixed bag of cloud, sunshine and showers. During the morning, the breeze will only be nice and light (force 3), but the skies will be mostly cloudy and there will be some heavy showers at times. During the afternoon and evening, the breeze will be a bit stronger (force 4) but the skies will much sunnier and the showers will be very few and far between. Max temp 17°C in most places but 18°C in Town.

Surf and the Water

The west coast surf will be about 4 feet around the morning high tide (8.2m at 8:15am) and about 3 feet towards the evening high (8.5m at 8:25pm). Swimming conditions will be pretty good along the north coast but best of all along the east coast, especially in the late afternoon and evening.

Friday

Weather

Maybe still a few showers in the morning, but if we do get any then they won’t be as heavy as on Thursday. The WSW’ly wind will be a bit lighter too, force 3 in the morning dropping off to force 2 by the end of the day. Plenty of sunshine, perfect for an early start to the weekend… max temp 18°C in most places but 19°C in Town.

Surf and the Water

The west coast surf will be about 3 feet as the tide pushes towards the morning high (8.2m at 8:50am) and about 2 feet towards the evening high (8.5m at 9pm). Swimming conditions will be pretty good along the north coast but best of all along the east coast, especially in the late afternoon and evening.

The Weekend

Weather

And from this point onward, the forecast becomes very simple. Just a few nuances of wind and cloud dictating the final temperatures for each day. Otherwise, we are simply talking about dry weather with lots of sunshine. Saturday will be lovely and sunny in the first half of the day, slightly cloudier in the second, the wind very light indeed (just a force 2 SW’ly) and the max temperature should be 20°C in most parts of the island but 21°C in Town. Sunday should be sunny all day long, but the breeze will gradually strengthen to a force 3-4 WNW’ly and this will keep the temperature about a degree lower than Saturday.

Surf and the Water

The west coast surf will be pretty clean, especially on Saturday, but it will be very small and weak, only really suitable for very small people or for very big boards. Swimming conditions will be fabulous all around the island on Saturday, then tending to favour the east coast and perhaps the south coast on Sunday. Tides will be high in the mid-mornings (roughly 8m) and low in the mid-afternoons.

Next Week

Weather

Staying gorgeously sunny at least until Wednesday, probably for the full week. As such the temperatures should gradually rise, but only by a fraction of a degree per day, due to the breeze (albeit mostly light) coming from the relatively cool north rather than the hot south. By the end of the week we might have hit 22°C but it’s unlikely we will climb any higher than that. Not everybody likes it to be cooking though… low twenties sounds pretty idyllic to me.

Surf and the Water

We will possibly maintain some weak but rideable (for kids) 1-2 waves through Monday and Tuesday. However, it’s really looking like a zero-surf situation for the rest of the week. Swimming conditions will always be best along the south coast. High tides will be in the late mornings to begin the week and then at lunchtime to finish the week (roughly 7.5m). Low tides starting the week in the late afternoons and then finishing off in the evenings.

The next forecast update will be on Saturday morning…
