Seven day Guernsey weather forecast for 02 July 2022

Saturday

Weather

A bit of a cloudy period from late morning to late afternoon. There’s even an outside chance of a spit and spot of rain. If that is the case then it really wouldn’t be enough to spoil anything, so no need to unpeg your washing or change any other plans in the slightest. The rest of the day should be lovely and sunny though. The winds much the same as the last couple of days (WSW’ly force 3-4), so always most sheltered in Town and therefore a degree or two warmer than other areas… 20°C for the max.

Surf and the Water

The surf will only really be good for young kids, but the swimming and paddle-boarding will be great for everyone. Obviously it’s going to be best in the west for the surf, but for the smooth-water activities it will be best in the north and east. High water will be at 9:25am, then again at 9:33pm (roughly 8.2m). Low water will be at 3:34pm.

Sunday

Weather

After the early morning cloud and any light showers have cleared, we are in for straight-forward dry and mostly sunny day. There will also be a slight wind veer to a WNW’ly direction (still force 3-4), which will make some south coast spots feel almost as warm as Town, probably nudging up to 20°C in those most favoured areas.

Surf and the Water

The west coast surf will be a weak and dribbly 1-2 feet again, and the Swimming conditions will be best out east again (not too bad at some south coast spots either… Petit Bot, Saints and Moulin Huet). High water will be about 7.9m at 10am. Low water will be at 4:08pm.

Next Week

Weather

The wind will generally be NW’ly Monday to Wednesday, then due N’ly Thursday and Friday. It will generally be too light for anyone to be bothered about, but the importance of the wind direction here is that it will keep our temperatures around normal for the time of year, despite the skies being gloriously sunny or starry for about 90% of the week. ‘What about the other 10%?’ some of you might be asking… well we are only talking about a little bit of bubbly cloud here and there but certainly no rain, no fog or anything remotely troubling. Daily max temps will generally be between 19 and 21°C in areas that are exposed to the breeze, but probably reaching 22°C in some southern parts.

Surf and the Water

There might be some more of that week and child-friendly surf on Monday, but the rest of the week is looking totally flat in that department I’m afraid. The south coast will always have the smoothest water for swimming, but there will be plenty of times when the wind is light enough for the other coasts too. Swimming conditions will always be best along the south coast. High tides will be in the late mornings to begin the week and then at lunchtime to finish the week (roughly 7.5m). Low tides starting the week in the late afternoons and then finishing off in the evenings.

The next forecast update will be on Monday evening…
