Tuesday
Weather
Quite a lot sunnier than Monday was, with totally blue skies apart from the odd little puff of cumulus cloud, mainly over the southeast of the island. Winds will be NW’ly light force 3, so despite those few puffs of cloud, the southeast of the island will also be the warmest area, with the temperature probably peaking at a nice round 20°C.
Surf and the Water
Flat surf but good swimming and paddle-boarding conditions, especially down on the south coast. High water will be 7.5m at 11:13am and low water will be 2.9m at 5:23pm.
Wednesday
Weather
An old and very weak weather front will drift across the area, just giving us a little more cloud than the previous day. However, it will introduce slightly warmer air to the islands, so we will easily reach a max of 20°C again. Very little change in the wind… still NW’ly… force 2-3 increasing force 3-4, therefore the south and east coasts will be the warmest and most comfortable areas again.
Surf and the Water
Flat surf but good swimming and paddle-boarding conditions, especially down on the south coast. High water will be 7.3m at midday and low water will be at roughly 6am and 6pm.
Thursday and Friday
Weather
Two days of wall to wall sunshine. Nothing more than a few wisps of high cloud to turn it a little hazy at times. The breeze will nudge round a little, to blow from a more N’ly direction, but still only light force 3 for the most part, perhaps occasionally increasing moderate force 4 on Thursday, perhaps occasionally decreasing light force 2on Friday. The south coast will always be the warmest area by a degree or so, with a most-likely max of 21°C on Thursday and 22°C on Friday.
Surf and the Water
Flat surf but good swimming and paddle-boarding conditions, especially down on the south coast. High water will be roughly 7.2m at lunchtime and low water will be around breakfast time and in the late evenings.
The Weekend
Weather
The sunshine and the N’ly breeze will be more or less the same, so temperatures will probably continue to peak at 21-22°C. However, there is a slim chance that we could get up to 23°C. All very pleasant and comfortable… much better for most outdoor activities/events than if it were 5°C hotter. However, the sunshine is still very intense through the middle part of the day, with the UV index up at 7 or 8, so hats and sun-cream will be essential to avoid painful sunburn.
Surf and the Water
Maybe some 1 foot waves for children to surf, but even that is perhaps a little too optimistic. The main events will continue to be the swimming and the paddle-boarding, especially down on the south coast. And of-course the Sark to Jersey rowing race will be helped by the lack of swell, the tail-wind and the relatively weak tidal currents. Low tides will be around 9am on Saturday and around 10am on Sunday. High tides will be around 3pm on Saturday and 4:15pm on Sunday (roughly 7.3m a7.6m respectively).
The next forecast update will be on Thursday morning…
