Thursday
Weather
Dry and mostly sunny. Just a few cloudy spells here and there, mainly in the morning. Best of all the winds will be nice and light (N’ly force 2 to 3), so the 22°C max temp will feel really pleasant and comfortable, especially down on the south coast (and of course in Town).
Surf and the Water
The 4 foot swell that arrived Wednesday night should persist through Thursday morning, but it will be much cleaner and more attractive to surf. Through the afternoon, it will dwindle away and become slightly messier, such that the evening session is just a sloppy 2 feet. Aside from surfing, the south-coast swimming will be particularly nice and smooth. High water will just be a small one, roughly 7.4m just after 1pm.
Friday
Weather
The previous idea of a thundery shower in the morning seems to have fizzled away to nothing… those showers will all be focussed on Normandy, leaving the islands dry and mostly sunny again. This time the wind will be a force 2-3 NW’ly, bringing slightly warmer air, meaning that most areas will peak at 23°C but Town will probably go as high as 24°C.
Surf and the Water
The surf will only really be big enough for kids, but they should still find some fun knee-high rides because the onshore wind will not be strong enough to mess things up. Once again, if you’re swimming then the south coast will be particularly lovely, but on this occasion the east coast will be equally smooth. The tides will be even smaller again, with a low of roughly 3.4m just after 8am and a high of 7m just after 2pm.
The Weekend
Weather
Sunny and dry for the vast majority of the time. Just the chance of a shower or two on Sunday evening. Things will be hotting up again too. Nothing like the crazy heat of last Monday… more like the kind of heat we can celebrate and enjoy. Saturday peaking at 24-25°C with those same gentle NW’ly breezes as on Friday. Sunday peaking at 26-27°C as a S’ly breeze wafts a bit of French air in our direction.
Surf and the Water
Clean 1-2 foot waves on Saturday, maybe picking up to 2-3 feet on Sunday. Great swimming all around the island, especially in the afternoon when we have some very small high tides. Small tides mean that the water stays relatively still and really gets a chance to heat up in the sunshine.
Next Week
Weather
Moderate to fresh W’ly winds will bring sunny spells and the chance of a few brief showers during the first half of the week. This will keep temperatures a few degrees lower than at the weekend (probably peaking at 22-23°C Monday to Wednesday). Moving on to Thursday and Friday, it looks as though the winds will swing round to a gentler E’ly, bringing a more continental flavour, with sunshine and loftier temperatures (likely peaking around 26-27°C each day).
Surf and the Water
Although rather choppy Monday to Wednesday, we should have a steady feed of rideable 4-5 foot waves. Thursday and Friday much cleaner, but dropping in size to between 1 and 3 feet. Swimmer will definitely want to head east through the first half of the week and then head either west or south through the second half. Medium sized tides… starting the week with highs of roughly 7.5m and finishing with highs of roughly 8.5m.
The next forecast update will be on Saturday…
