Eight day Guernsey weather forecast for 24 July 2022

Sunday

Weather

This will be the warmest day of the weekend (not to say that there was anything wrong with Saturday). Temperatures will climb to a max of 24-25°C, thanks to a gentle SSW’ly breeze wafting French air towards us. All coasts will be lovely on this wind direction, although the south coast which will be a little more choppy and perhaps a degree cooler due to the onshore flow. After a mostly sunny day, the skies will become cloudy towards dusk, due to a weather front approaching from the west. This will give us a very minor sprinkling during the night time, but nowhere near as much as we could do with after such prolonged dryness.

Surf and the Water

The 2-3 foot surf will be super clean and the swimming/paddle-boarding conditions will be nice and smooth too. Low water will be at 10:17am and high water will be at 4:26pm (roughly 7.1m).

Monday and Tuesday

Weather

After Sunday night’s weak weather-front, we will have a cool and perhaps showery airflow. The cooler air will mean beautiful visibility to the other islands and the French coast, and it will also lead to plenty of silver-lined clouds bubbling up. Monday will have a moderate to fresh W’ly wind so St Peter Port will be the most meltered spot, scooping the max temp of 21-22°C. Tuesday’s temperature will be about the same, but will have a much lighter N’ly wind, so it will generally feel warmer all around the island, most especially down on the south coast.

Surf and the Water

The surf will be 4 feet and messy on Monday, dropping off to 2 or 3 feet on Monday but becoming much cleaner as it does so. As for the swimming, that will be an east coast affair on Monday. Low tides will be shortly after 11am on Monday and midday on Tuesday. High tides will be shortly after 5pm on Monday and 6pm on Tuesday (roughly 7.4m and 7.7m respectively).

Wednesday and Thursday

Weather

These two days will also bring the slim chance of a shower, but the wind will be light and variable, so it’s very hard to predict where they will form and how they will move. However, the most likely place for them to form will be over France, due to the extra heat there, so I’m afraid that our lawns and fields will probably still be dry and crunchy underfoot. It will be lovely and warm for playing around on the beaches though. Max temps should be about 24°C each day.

Surf and the Water

The surf will be dropping right off I’m afraid, maybe still 2 feet and reasonably clean on Wednesday, but only 1 foot or maybe even flat on Thursday. Yet more fabulous swimming conditions though, especially down on the south coast. High tides will be around breakfast time and dinner time. Low tides will be around lunchtime.

Friday and the Weekend

Weather

These days will probably be even warmer than the previous, with the cloud clearing early on Friday and probably leaving us with pure blue sky and sunshine for the rest of the day and for all of Saturday and Sunday. Winds will be just as light as on the previous days, but coming from a more definite NE’ly direction, mean that the southwest of the island will scoop the highest temperatures, most likely rising a little each day until we peak in the region of 26-27 on Sunday.

Surf and the Water

There may be very light winds over the islands but there will be much stronger winds mid-Atlantic, so it currently looks as though we will pick up and maintain a steady 2-3 foot swell on the west coast. The tides will be high around breakfast time and dusk, and they will be low in the early to mid afternoons.

The next forecast update will be on Monday or Tuesday…
