Seven day Guernsey weather forecast for 08 August 2022

Monday to Wednesday

Weather

And so we hang on to the very repetitive forecast… barely a cloud in the sky and certainly no rain, just loads of sunshine and a persistent NE’ly breeze (mostly moderate force 4, occasionally light force 3 in the mornings or overnight). This consistent feed of air from eastern Europe will give us some decent max temperatures every day, generally 25°C in most places, but probably up to 26 or even 27°C along the south coast. The UV index still peaking at 5-6 in the middle of the day, so be careful not to sunburn, especially if your skin is fair.

Surf and the Water

Flat surf but lovely smooth water on the south coast again. Low water will shift from late mornings Monday and Tuesday to lunchtime on Wednesday. High water will shift from late afternoons Monday and Tuesday to dinner time on Wednesday

Thursday and Friday

Weather

No change in the story of dry weather, hot sunshine and NE’ly breezes. The temperature continuing to rise, such that we could see such lofty figures as 27-28°C or perhaps even 29°C in the warmest southern areas on Friday.

Surf and the Water

The surf isn’t going to be totally flat. There could be some infrequent surges from a very long period swell, but anything rideable will only be 1-2 feet and the wind-direction is not great for the west coast. Once again, however, we will have lovely smooth water on the south coast. Low tides will be around lunchtime, high tides around breakfast time and in the evenings. Those tides getting bigger and bigger, until we have a high of about 9.5m on Friday evening.

The Weekend

Weather

Still hot and mostly sunny, probably reaching the same max temperatures as on Thursday and Friday, but maybe even going slightly higher as the breeze veers SE’ly on Saturday. Sunday, however, will see further wind changes to a very light SSW breeze which will certainly bring more cloud to the sky, but it might also bring some fog banks to the coasts and maybe even a thunderstorm by the end of the day.

Surf and the Water

Perhaps some 1 foot surf but most likely flat. As for the prize swimming conditions, this title will gradually shift from the long-reigning south coast, to the west coast through Saturday, and then to the north and east coasts through Sunday. Very big tides, with highs of around 9.5m around breakfast time and about 9.9m around dusk.

The next forecast update will be on Thursday morning…
