Wednesday and Thursday
Weather
A couple of rather chilly days, with temperatures in most areas not climbing above 15°C on Wednesday and 16°C on Thursday (maybe just a degree higher in Town). This will be due to a moderate NW’ly airflow through Wednesday and then a straight N’ly through Thursday. Cool air over relatively warm seas is a great recipe for showers, but they will generally be quite brief and sparse. If there is one time when the showers might be more prolonged and heavy then that’s through Thursday morning. There is even an outside chance of some thunder at that time. Apart from this, we will see some sunshine at times… probably just a few brief spells on Wednesday, but most likely a full afternoon of sunshine on Thursday.
Surf and the Water
The surf conditions will be very similar to Tuesday’s, meaning that there’s a chance of some small clean waves on the south coast (1-2 feet) and plenty of larger, messy but fun waves on the west coast (3-5 feet). Swimmers will find the smoothest water along the south coast, and maybe in a few spots along the east coast on Wednesday. Wednesday’s tides will be 9.3m high at 8:54am and 1.5m low at 3:10pm. Thursday’s tides will be 9.2m high at 9:25am and 1.7m low at 3:42pm.
Friday and Saturday
Weather
These two grey days will be dominated by a deep low-pressure system, whose centre will be between Iceland and Scotland, but whose influence will extend all the way into Northern France. Friday will see a strengthening SW’ly wind… light force 2-3 at dawn, but strong force 6-7 by dusk. The rain will set in mid-afternoon and then it will clear off around midnight, which is also when the wind will veer W’ly. Through Saturday, that W’ly wind will be fresh force 5 to strong force 6, but there will be stronger gusts when showers sweep through, and some of those showers could be on the heavy side. Town will always be warmest, possibly getting up to 19°C, whilst most other places top out at 17-18°C.
Surf and the Water
Friday’s surf will be 2-3 feet and clean, then Saturday’s surf will be 5-6 feet and messy. Both days will be great for kite-surfing and windsurfing on the west and north coasts, but swimmers who are looking for shelter will really need to hit the east coast. Friday’s tides will be 8.9m high at 9:57am and 2m low at 4:15pm. Saturday’s tides will be 8.4m high at 10:33am and 2.4m low at 4:51pm.
Sunday, Monday and Tuesday
Weather
High pressure will bring lovely dry and settled weather. Skies will be a mix of cloud and sunshine, but the airflow will be consistently mild, leading to daily max temperatures of 18°C in most areas and probably 19°C in Town. Nightly minima will probably be 11-12°C, but if clear skies are prolonged then they could drop down to 10°C or maybe even 9°C.
Surf and the Water
Lovely clean surf all three days… 4-6 foot on Sunday, 3-5 feet on Monday and 2-4 feet on Tuesday. Great swimming conditions all around the island, especially around the times of high water (which will generally be around midday… 7.7m on Sunday, 7.1m on Monday and 6.8m on Tuesday).
The next forecast update will be on Friday evening or Saturday morning…
