Saturday
Weather
A bit on the cloudy side but so much drier than Friday and so much less windy, that it’s really going to feel pretty good… especially as the moderate force 4 SSE’ly breeze is simply going to bring us more unseasonably warm air. Daytime max temp 17-18°C. Overnight min temp 14-15°C.
Surf and the Water
Clean 3-4 foot surf in the more exposed west-coast bays and lovely conditions for swimmers in the more sheltered west-coast bays. Low water will be 3m around 11:35am, high water will be 8m around 5:35pm.
Sunday
Weather
This day will be a bit more like the Friday we’ve just had, with a mixed bag of fine and foul weather conditions, along with a strengthening wind. The morning looks likely to be dry and bright, with the same force 4 SSE’ly wind as on Saturday. Then it’s through the afternoon and overnight that heavy showers will come and go (possibly thundery) and the wind will gradually strengthen to force 6-7 SW’ly. Still on the warm side though, with a daytime max of 17-18°C and an overnight min of 14-15°C.
Surf and the Water
The surf will be just as clean but slightly smaller, just 1-2 feet in the morning and 2-3 feet in the afternoon. Winds will be strengthening through the day, so swimmers will best go for the early session and windsurfers/kite-surfers will best go for the later session. Low water will be 2.4m around 12:15am, high water will be 8.6m around 6:15pm.
Monday and Tuesday
Weather
These two days separate themselves from the latter part of next week, because the wind will be blowing from a SW’ly direction (strong force 6 on Monday, decreasing force 4-5 on Tuesday). This isn’t going to make much difference to the general mildness/warmth of the air, but it will mean that Town will be a little more sheltered and therefore feel a bit more comfortable. It will also mean that there is more moisture in the air, so the clouds will be lower, thicker and more likely to give us a heavy downpour or two. Max temps will likely be 18°C in Town and 16-17°C across the rest of the island.
Surf and the Water
The surf will be quite big and choppy on Monday morning (4-5 feet), then it will gradually become cleaner but also much smaller, hopefully leaving us with a decent 2 feet on Tuesday, but it’s quite possible that it will fall flat for that day. The tidal range will be getting fairly large, with lunchtime lows and highs around dawn and dusk, increasing from 8.8m on Monday morning’s high to 9.4m on Tuesday evening’s high.
The Rest of Next Week
Weather
With the wind coming from a SSE’ly direction, the air will be much drier and less prone to showers or weather fronts. The amount of high cloud will vary from time to time, sometimes quite thick and grey, but frequently thin enough for hazy sunshine and max temps of 19°C, not bad for nearly-November hey!
Surf and the Water
The surf will get bigger, picking up from 2-3 feet on Wednesday to 5-6 feet on Friday. It should also be very clean for the majority of the time, due to the winds being either straight offshore or cross-offshore. As for those tides, they will stay on the large side, with highs of between 9.3m and 9.5m around breakfast time and lows of around 1.4m in the mid-afternoons.
The next forecast update will be on Sunday evening…
