Guernsey Weather Fox

Seven day Guernsey weather forecast for 26 October 2022

Thursday

Weather

The only spots of rain we are likely to see are before dawn and after dusk. Daylight hours should be dry and bright with a moderate force 4 SSE’ly breeze and a max temp of around 18-19°C. The warmest areas will be along the west coast, especially around Pleinmont and Richmond, and it should also be a great day for a nice long trip to Lihou.

Surf and the Water

Super-clean 3 foot surf on the west coast, maybe with the odd 4 footer around dawn and dusk. The swimming conditions will be good along the west coast too (and also up north). High water will be about 9.5m at 8:30am and low water will be around 2:45pm.

Friday

Weather

Probably a very similar day to Thursday, with the greatest chance of showers being early and late but the bulk of the day being dry. Skies will likely be a bit cloudier than Thursday and if we do catch a shower then it will likely be heavier, especially in the evening when we might just see the remnants of a French thunderstorm. The winds will be more or less the same as on Thursday, but just nudged round to a SSW’ly direction. This means that Town will be a bit more sheltered and therefore the warmest area by a whisker, once again peaking around 18-19°C.

Surf and the Water

The surf should be lovely and clean again, but probably bigger this time… 4-5 feet. The swimming conditions will be good along the west and north coast again, and this time it won' too bad along the east coast as well. High water will be about 9.3m at 9am and low water will be around 3:30pm.

The Weekend

Weather

Some showers are likely on both days, but they look likely to be most frequent and heavy on Saturday. That said, even on Saturday, the dry time will far outweigh the wet time, and we should even see a little brightness or sunshine sneaking in at times… not a lot, but probably enough to lift temperatures to highs of 17-18°C (maybe even 19°C in Town). Winds will be force 4-5 SSW’ly, which is barely any different from the previous days, so I’m sure you will have no trouble making the right clothing choices.

Surf and the Water

Just more clean waves for surfers, probably staying around 3 feet through both days. The only frustration being that the tidal range will still be very large, meaning that it will probably be too low to surf through much of the afternoon time. High water will be at roughly 9:30am (9m and 8.6m respectively).

Next Week

Weather

The air will be almost as mild as it has been for the last couple of weeks, peaking around 16-18°C by day and falling to minima of 13-15°C during the nights. However, it does look as though the S’ly or SW’ly winds will be a bit stronger than they have been, especially during the second half of the week. This will be because the Atlantic low pressure systems will be a bit deeper and a bit closer, which means that there is also likely to be more rainfall in total.

Surf and the Water

It looks as though we will have a decent amount of surf every day… roughly 3 feet on Monday, picking up to 5 or 6 feet by the end of Tuesday and possibly getting bigger through the rest of the week. Also, because the wind will stay either S’ly or SW’ly the conditions will generally be clean. Smaller tides than last week, as the moon waxes through its half size. The highs will generally be between 7 and 8m, with high water in the late morning on Monday, gradually nudging through the day until it’s in the mid-afternoon on Friday.

The next forecast update will be on Friday…
