Tuesday
Weather
After a gorgeous starry Monday evening, we will all be wondering how on earth it managed to go so wrong. Sometime between midnight and dawn, the S’ly wind will strengthen to strong force 6 or 7 and persistent rain will set in. That rain turning heavy at times and carrying on right through the morning, only clearing around midday. When that rain clears off, the wind will also relax to a force 5 SW’ly, but I’m afraid that won’t be the end of the foul weather, because showers will come and go through the rest of the day and overnight… isolated at first, but gradually becoming more frequent, heavy and gusty. Max 13-14°C, min 10-11°C.
Surf and the Water
The surf will up to about 6 feet and it should be fairly clean, although winds will be strong enough to make life difficult. However, it’s obviously all great news for windsurfers and kite-surfers. Tidal movements will be small, with a late morning high of 7.3m and a low in the late afternoon.
Wednesday
Weather
This will be almost like Tuesday in reverse, with the morning comprising sunshine, showers and fresh force 5 SW’ly winds. Then, in the afternoon and evening, the wind will step up to a force 7 S’ly and the rain will become persistent. It doesn’t end there though I’m afraid, because the night time is going to get even windier… SW’ly gale force 8 with gusts of up to 55mph. Best not to put your wheelie bins out. Just leave them in the garage, they can wait. Max 14-15°C, min 11-12°C.
Surf and the Water
The surf will pick up to about 10 feet and it should be fairly clean, although winds will be strong enough to make life difficult. However, it’s obviously all great news for windsurfers and kite-surfers. Tidal movements will be small, with a late morning high of 6.8, and a low in the late afternoon.
Thursday and Friday
Weather
Two pretty straight forward days, because it will be a simple cocktail of sunshine showers and rainbows. There will be a gradual improvement though, because the showers will reduce from heavy and frequent at the start of Thursday to relatively light and isolated by the end of Friday. Throughout that time the wind will stay W’ly in direction, but that will also gradually relax… starting off Thursday at strong force 7 and finishing Friday at moderate force 4 to fresh force 5. Temperatures on the slide, with maxima of 13°C and 12°C respectively, and minima of 10°C and 8°C respectively.
Surf and the Water
The surf will be about 10 feet and messy on Thursday, becoming marginally cleaner on Friday as the onshore wind decreases a little. Swimming conditions will most definitely be best along the east coast. Tiny tidal movements, with lunchtime highs of 6.6m and 6.8m respectively.
The Weekend
Weather
In such a changeable weather pattern, I’m not sure how much I can commit to this statement but it currently looks as though Saturday might be the only dry day of the week, so if this story holds true then be sure to make the most of it, before strong winds and heavy showers return overnight and through Sunday. As for the temperatures, we are probably looking at maxima of around 13°C and minima of around 9°C.
Surf and the Water
The surf will stay massive… likely clean on Saturday but getting quite difficult in the afternoon as the offshore wind becomes strong, then generally messier on Sunday when the winds become even stronger and swing to an onshore direction. Bigger tidal movements, with mid to late afternoon highs of 7.3m and 7.8m respectively.
The next forecast update will be on Wednesday…
