Monday
Weather
A little rain around breakfast time, but then it should stay dry until sometime after dusk. Otherwise, we are looking at a similar day to Sunday… mostly cloudy, perhaps a bit misty and much much milder than any day in the previous week. The max temp will probably be 13°C but there is the chance of a little soft sunshine around lunchtime, which could crank us right up to 14°C. Don’t get too excited though because it will be windy… S’ly fresh force 5 to strong force 6 with gusts of 35-40mph.
Surf and the Water
Super-clean west-coast surf, picking up from 4 feet in the morning to 6 feet in the afternoon. Low water will be around breakfast time. High water will be about 7.5m at 2:50pm and that will be the best time to find a little shelter, whether that be for surfers or for cold-water swimmers.
Tuesday
Weather
After another wet night and early morning, we should be in for a dry time until showers develop around midnight. Again there is the chance of some brightness or a little soft sunshine, but we are probably looking at a cloudy and misty day, possibly with fog causing a delay or two up at the airport. Winds will be very light compared to the previous days, just a force 3-4 W’ly in the morning, backing S’ly and decreasing to force 2 in the afternoon. Max temperatures around 12°C, so not quite as mild as Monday, but the lack of wind will mean that it’s just as (if not more) comfortable.
Surf and the Water
The surf will hold around 6 feet or maybe a little bigger… a little choppy in the morning but deliciously clean in the afternoon. Low water will be mid-morning. High water will be about 7.9m at 3:50pm.
Wednesday, Thursday and Friday
Weather
At this time of year, cooler air generally brings sunnier skies, so Wednesday (although running the risk of isolated showers) should be the sunniest day of the week… max temp 11-12°C and the wind a force 5-6 WSW’ly. Moving on to Thursday and Friday, we are probably looking at much cloudier days, with frequent showers but temperatures peaking at 12-13°C. Winds will be more or less SW’ly on both days, force 4 to 5 through Thursday, then strengthening to strong force 6 on Friday, or possibly even strong force 7.
Surf and the Water
Low tides will be late morning Wednesday and Thursday, lunchtime on Friday. High tides will be soon after dusk, picking up from 8.4m on Wednesday to 9m on Friday. The surf will be semi-clean throughout the period, fluctuating between around 5-6 feet when smallest and 8+ feet when biggest.
The Weekend
Weather
After a very windy Friday night (potentially gale force 8 WSW’ly), Saturday will see a very gradual simmering down to moderate force 4, and then the wind should back SE’ly overnight and hold that direction through Sunday. This will probably chip away at the temperature (losing a degree or two each day), as some cooler French air is introduced to the islands. Weather-wise, we are probably looking a mixed bag of cloud and sunshine, with mostly dry conditions through daylight hours… just the slight chance of some showers early Saturday morning and late Sunday afternoon.
Surf and the Water
The surf will be about 8 feet and quite choppy on Saturday, but it should then 5-6 feet and super-clean on Sunday. High tides shortly before dawn (9.4m and 9.5m respectively). Low tides in the early afternoons.
The next forecast update will be on Tuesday or Wednesday …
