Seven day Guernsey weather forecast for 21 April 2023

Saturday

Weather

The morning will have cloudy skies and light patchy rain, brought to us by a light force 2-3 SE’ly wind. Moving into the afternoon, the wind will veer to a moderate force 4 SSW’ly, and the weather will all fragment into sunny intervals and occasional heavy showers. 13°C for the max daytime temp, 9°C for the min overnight temp.

Surf and the Water

Such a good wind for surfing but regrettably, the waves will be virtually flat. Swimming conditions will be pretty decent though, especially along the west and north coasts. High water will be about 9.6m at 8:50am and low water will be around 3:15pm.

Sunday

Weather

After some heavy night time showers and perhaps a few more at breakfast time, Sunday morning will be an improving picture, with force 3-4 SW’ly winds bringing an increasing amounts of sunshine and gradually evaporating the many puddles. During the afternoon, the wind will veer to a force 4-5 WNW’ly and the sunshine will increase further. The east coast will be the warmest area, so we will probably see temps of 14°C there, whilst most other areas only peak at 13°C.

Surf and the Water

Although the wind will be onshore, it shouldn’t be strong enough to really spoil the surf. That said, it wouldn’t have been particularly special anyway, with only 1-2 foot waves in the morning, increasing 3-4 feet by evening. Swimming conditions will be best of all along the east coast. High water will be about 9.2m at 9:30am and low water will be around 3:45pm.

Monday and Tuesday

Weather

Mixed cloud and sunshine on both days but not much else in common. Monday will have a moderate W’ly wind and a few passing showers, then Tuesday will have a moderate E’ly wind and should be bone dry. Temperature-wise, the two days will be marginally sub-average, like most other days of late, with a max of 13°C on Monday and 12°C on Tuesday.

Surf and the Water

Lumpy surf 3 foot surf on Monday, followed by very clean but very weak 1-2 foot surf on Tuesday. As for the smoothest water, swimmers will find that along the east coast on Monday and along the west coast on Tuesday. High tides will be in the late mornings (8.5m and 7.9m respectively). Low tides will be in the late afternoons.

The Rest of Next Week

Weather

Skies will be mostly cloudy at the back end of the week, but the airflow should be relatively mild (SE’ly on Wednesday, S’ly on Thursday and then SW’ly on Friday). Showers will come and go, but it doesn’t look as though we will see any prolonged rain. Max temps should be a little higher than of late, peaking at 15°C or maybe even 16°C each day.

Surf and the Water

The west-coast waves will stay clean, but it’s doubtful that they will ever get any bigger than 1-2 feet. Lovely small tides across these three days though, with highs of only 7.2m, 6.6m and 6.2m respectively (11am, 12pm and 1pm).

The next forecast update will be on Sunday evening…
