Monday
Weather
Moderate force 4 W’ly winds will bring a pleasant enough but really rather bland mix of cloud and sunshine. The clouds could be thick enough to drop a shower or two upon us. However, it’s equally likely that the shower clouds will dance around the islands and empty themselves over the sea instead. Max temps will be about the same as on Sunday… 12°C in most areas but probably 13°C in Town. Min temps overnight will be about 7°C.
Surf and the Water
Choppy 3 foot surf, perhaps a tad bigger early morning, perhaps a tad smaller by evening. If you’re looking for a smooth water swim then the east coast will be best, especially around high water… high tide will be around 10am (8.5m) and low tide around 4pm.
Tuesday and Wednesday
Weather
These two days will have a pretty thorough covering of high cloud, rather than the bubbly low cloud of the previous days. There won’t be a lot of blue sky and proper sunshine, but the high cloud should be thin enough to allow plenty of brightness. Winds will be light force 3 to moderate force 4… ESE’ly on Tuesday and then SSE’ly on Wednesday, so the west coast will be the mildest and comfiest area on both days. Showers will be few and far between during daylight hours, but it looks as though we will get a few light sprinklings on Tuesday night and then a few heavier ones on Wednesday night. Max temps should be sneaking in an upward direction… 13-14°C on Tuesday and then 14-15°C on Wednesday.
Surf and the Water
Super¬-clean but absolutely miniscule surf. Tuesday morning’s and Wednesday evening’s 1-2 footers might just be able to float the longboards and SUPs. However, the period in between is looking virtually flat at the moment. Swimming conditions will generally be best along the west coast on both days. High water in the late mornings (7.9m and 7.2m respectively) and low water in the late afternoons.
Thursday and Friday
Weather
A real contrast between these two days… Thursday likely the wettest day of the working week, with a force 4-5 SSW’ly wind brining lots of fairly heavy showers… Friday likely the most settled day of the week, with showers dying off around breakfast time (or earlier) and W’ly breezes falling very light as high pressure builds over France and Biscay. Max temps staying in the mid-teens (14-16°C).
Surf and the Water
Clean 2 foot surf for big boards and beginners. The best swimming conditions will be in the north and west for most of the time, but maybe better in the east around sunset Thursday and dawn Friday. Tiny tidal movements, with highs at lunchtime (6.6m and 6.2m respectively) and lows around dawn and dinner time.
The Weekend
Weather
Winds will most likely be NE’ly, as the high pressure system becomes centred over Britain… light force 3 on Sunday, picking up to force 4-5 on Sunday. The air will be on the mild side but skies will be mostly cloudy, so temperatures aren’t likely to climb any higher than the previous days. However, if they continue to peak at 14-16°C then that should feel fairly pleasant, especially because the probability of seeing any showers is almost zero.
Surf and the Water
The surf will be 2-4 feet and a bit choppy from the cross-shore winds. Swimming conditions will be best along the south coast and some parts of the west coast. Tidal movements will still be tiny, with lows in the early to mid mornings and highs in the mid-afternoons.
The next forecast update will be on Tuesday or Wednesday…
