Saturday
Weather
Just a few puffs of cloud here and there. Otherwise, we are looking at flawless blue sky and dazzling sunshine. The wind will be coming from a NNE’ly direction, much like the previous days, but it will be blowing a tad harder… moderate force 4 for the majority of the day. Temperatures will be much the same though, with 16°C for the general maximum (maybe slightly higher along the sheltered south coast). Furthermore, the UV index will peak at 6 during the middle part of the day, so don’t forget to protect your skin.
Surf and the Water
3 foot surf on the west coast, made rather choppy by the cross-shore wind. Lovely smooth water for swimmers down on the south coast though. High water will be 8.9m at 7:50am and 9m at 8pm. Low water will be at 2:10pm.
Sunday
Weather
Another pretty much flawless blue sky day. The only threat of cloud appears to be during the evening and overnight. Winds will be more or less a repeat of Saturday too. The only difference is that they will fall a bit lighter during the afternoon, which should allow a general max temperature of 17°C. Once again the UV index will peak at 6.
Surf and the Water
2 foot west-coast waves, possibly picking up to 3 feet towards dusk. The choppy crosswind will still be with us though. Once again, head south for the smoothest swimming conditions. High water will be 8.8m at 8:30am at 8:40pm. Low water will be at 2:45pm.
Next Week
Weather
A very similar week to the one we’ve just had. Winds blowing from a NE’ly direction… moderate force 4 at times but mostly just light force 2 to 3. Sunshine a plenty and almost zero likelihood of any showers. Excellent for drying the laundry, mowing the lawn and for all manor of outdoor activity. Temperatures peaking in the mid to high teens each day and falling to about 10°C each night### Surf and the Water The surf should be 2-3 feet through the first half of the week, then 1-2 feet through the second. Winds will remain cross-shore on the west coast, so surfers will have to pounce on the moments when winds are light in order to find the cleanest conditions. Swimmers will continue to find the smoothest water along the south coast. Tidal movements will be medium-large at the start of the week (with highs in the mid-mornings and around dusk) becoming small by the end of the week (with highs in the late mornings).
The next forecast update will be on Monday…
