Monday and Tuesday
Weather
It looks like there will be a little low cloud on Monday morning, possibly giving a misty look to the air, but the cloud will be very thin so the sunshine will filter through it quite weakly for a few hours before burning it off properly. Then it’s going to be blazing sunshine in the afternoon, with force 4-5 NE’ly winds giving us a similar feeling to the Sunday we’ve just had. Moving on to Tuesday, the morning cloud looks as though it might be a little bit thicker and tougher to burn away, but we should be back with blazing sunshine for the majority of the afternoon. Max temperatures 17°C on Monday and 16°C on Tuesday.
Surf and the Water
Whilst the west-coast surf remains flat as a lake, the windsurfing and kitesurfing conditions will remain quite good. Swimming will be best around high tide, mainly along the south coast but also in some west-coast nooks. High tides will be around breakfast time (8.8m) and around dusk (9m). Low tides will be in the early afternoons.
Wednesday to Friday
Weather
A mixed bag of cloud and sunshine. Unfortunately, the ENE’ly winds will be a bit stronger… force 5 for the most part, but occasionally touching strong force 6. This is a shame because the air will actually be inherently warmer, so we could see max temps of 18 or even 19°C but unfortunately it won’t feel any more comfortable.
Surf and the Water
Zero improvement in the surf department, and the swimming conditions will also become a bit trickier due to the stronger winds. The windsurfing and kite-surfing will obviously be better though. High tides will be in the late mornings (8.7m, 8.4m and 8.1m respectively). Low tides will be in the late afternoons.
The Weekend
Weather
If you’ve done a rain dance or two lately, then you might see the fruits of your moves over the weekend… most likely in the form of a shower or two (possibly thundery) drifting across from France during the evenings. Apart from that we are looking at a mix of cloudy spells and hazy sunshine, with much lighter winds than the previous days. Max temps might actually be in the low twenties for the first time this year.
Surf and the Water
It’s not definite that the surf conditions will improve but these really are the first days that at least offer some hope of ending this flatness curse. So, at the moment, there is a hope of a clean 1-3 foot swell and the tides would be a bit smaller, which also gives us some hope for longer and better sessions. Those high tides will be at lunchtime… 7.8m on Saturday and 7.6m on Sunday. Low tides will be in the early mornings and around dinnertime.
The next forecast update will be on Tuesday or Wednesday…
