Seven day Guernsey weather forecast for 09 June 2023

Saturday

Weather

With light and variable winds and humid air, we will constantly be on a knife-edge between good visibility and misty murk, and also on a knife-edge between dry weather and heavy showers. The truth is that we are bound to catch a little bit of everything, but I certainly can’t pin down the precise times and locations. As for sunshine, a few choice rays are bound to poke through and lift our temperatures to a max of between 19 and 21°C, but the vast majority of the day will be cloudy.

Surf and the Water

Now that the pesky NE’ly has finally knocked it on the head, the sea will be much smoother for swimmers, kayakers and paddle-boarders all around the Island. There could be a few lines of miniscule swell that might transfix surfers for a moment or two, but they are unlikely to ever grow to a rideable size I’m afraid. Low tide will be first thing in the morning and again at dinner time. High tide will be at 12:20pm (roughly 7.8m).

Sunday and Monday

Weather

It looks as though both these days will be similarly uncertain, with respect to both visibility and the likelihood of showers. However, with the breeze (although still very light), coming firmly from a NW’ly direction, the south and east coasts should certainly escape without any mist or fog. When it comes to showers, they will be scattered quite sparsely across the area but they will also be heavy and thundery. This means that every parish will be equally likely to get briefly soaked, but the vast majority of the time will be dry as a bone… partly cloudy, partly sunny. Daily max temps about 18°C and 20°C respectively.

Surf and the Water

Just like on Saturday, the winds will be light enough to give lovely smooth water for swimmers, kayakers and paddle-boarders all around the Island. And again, the likelihood of any tiny swell reaching a surfable size is very slim. Low tides will be in the early mornings and late evenings. High tides will be in the early afternoons (roughly 7.5m).

The Rest of Next Week

Weather

Four dry and sunny days, with winds nudging back to that familiar NE’ly direction, but fortunately staying lovely and light. This will allow temperatures to climb to between 19°C and 22°C every day. This will feel much more like the summer that we have all been craving over the last few weeks, and the very best places to enjoy it will be down on the south-coast beaches and cliff-paths.

Surf and the Water

The surf looks set to stay near-flat until sometime on Thursday and then there might just be a healthy 1-3 foot groundswell for the pleasure of young learners and longboarders. Although winds will be back to that old familiar NE’ly direction, they will be very light this time, so the swimming conditions should be nice and smooth all around the island, but obviously the west and south coasts will have the best of it. Low tides will shuffle forward from mid-morning on Tuesday to lunchtime on Friday. High tides will shuffle forward from mid-afternoon on Tuesday (7.6m) to dinnertime on Friday (8.4m).

The next forecast update will be on Monday evening…
