Monday
Weather
A cloudier day than of late, but not without some sunny spells, especially in the morning. It will be dry though, and the W’ly wind will be lighter than on Sunday, so anybody who works outdoors or does outdoor sport will find the conditions to be really comfortable and useful. Max temperatures should be 19-21°C in most areas, but probably 22°C around Town.
Surf and the Water
Lumpy 2 foot surf, maybe some 3 footers in the morning if we’re lucky. Not as windy as Sunday, so no good for kite-surfers or windsurfers I’m afraid. Pretty fine for swimming though, especially along the east coast during the hours around high tide (6.9m at 12:40pm).
Tuesday
Weather
Flipping the order of events from Monday, Tuesday will have cloudier skies in the morning, followed by blazing sunshine in the afternoon. Furthermore, the W’ly wind should be a touch lighter again so this should translate into a lovely summer’s day, with temperatures marginally higher in all locations, so that’s roughly… 20-21°C in most areas, but 22-23°C around Town.
Surf and the Water
Clean but rather sloppy 2 foot surf (maybe with the odd 3 footer if we are extra lucky). Once again, the water should be silky smooth for swimmers on the east coast. In fact, during the morning, it should be pretty silky on all the other coasts as well. Low water will be at breakfast time. High water will be about 6.8m at 1:40pm.
Wednesday
Weather
Probably the wettest day of the working week, but don’t worry because it will most probably all come in the late evening (around dusk), with only the slimmest chance of a brief drizzly shower any earlier in the day. Note the word drizzly… whenever you read that you should realise that this means the cloud is very low, so there must also be a risk of some mist or hill-fog. At the moment, it looks as though the risk of murky weather will be during the morning, but the afternoon should be reasonably bright or perhaps even sunny. Winds will be light force 3 SW’ly and temperatures will be pretty much the same as on Tuesday, so that’s roughly… 20-21°C in most areas, but 22-23°C around Town.
Surf and the Water
Sloppy choppy 1-2 foot surf, probably the smallest and most missable day of the week (not that the others are anything to rave about). For swimmers however, the east coast will be the cream of the crop again. Low tide at breakfast time again, high tide at 2:45pm this time (7m).
Thursday and Friday
Weather
Mixed cloud and sunshine, with only the remotest chance of a brief light shower clipping the islands. The breeze will likely be a bit stronger… probably a force 3-4 NW’ly on Thursday and then a force 4-5 W’ly on Sunday. This will probably mean that the temperature takes a downward slide, so we can probably expect maxima of roughly… 19-20°C in most areas, but 21-22°C around Town.
Surf and the Water
It currently looks as though Thursday’s surf will be 2-3 feet and Friday’s will be 1-2 feet, but the wave-models’ margins of error are probably bigger than those miniscule fluctuations anyway, so you can’t have too much faith in that level of forecast detail. What we can be more sure of is that we will maintain the W’ly breeze, or possibly it will veer to a NW’ly, so the east coast will probably have the smoothest water for swimmers, but it might turn out to be similarly smooth on the south coast as well. Tides will be low in the mid-mornings and high in the mid-afternoons (7.3m and 7.7m respectively).
The Weekend
Weather
Saturday looks set to be cloudy with patchy rain or drizzle, at least in the morning, if we’re lucky then it might all be gone in the afternoon. Sunday is looking cloudy too, but probably dry. Winds, much like o Friday… force 4-5 W’ly so the temperatures of 18-20°C won’t feel very special at all. Eastern areas like Town should be nicely sheltered though, so I’m sure people will find it to be reasonably pleasant in those parts.
Surf and the Water
The surf looks likely to remain around 2 feet and choppy, but there is a chance of it increasing to 3 or 4 feet. Swimmers will certainly find the smoothest water along the east coast again. Tides will be getting fairly large, with high water before breakfast and then again around dinner time… increasing a little each time, starting off at 7.8m on Saturday morning’s high and finishing at 8.6m on Sunday evening’s high.
The next forecast update will be on Wednesday…
