Saturday
Weather
Friday night’s rain and drizzle should clear off very soon after dawn. Through the rest of the morning, the skies will gradually change from cloudy to sunny, and that’s how they should stay through the majority of the afternoon and evening. There will be a force 4-5 W’ly wind though, which will have a cooling effect on that sunshine, meaning that temperatures will only peak at 19-20°C in most areas, but we should sneak up to 21°C in Town.
Surf and the Water
Choppy 3-5 foot surf on the west coast and some decent conditions for windsurfing and kite-surfing too. If you’re going for a sea swim then the east coast will be the most sheltered and smooth, especially Fermain Bay around high tide. Low water will be around 11:40am and high water will be around 5:45pm (8.1m).
Sunday
Weather
In contrast to Saturday’s story of ever-increasing sunshine, Sunday’s story is one of alternating cloud and sunshine, probably with more in the way of cloud than sunshine. On the plus side however, the wind will be a bit gentler (force 3-4 W’ly), so the temperature should climb to roughly the same heights (19-21°C), with Town being the warmest area again.
Surf and the Water
Choppy 3-5 foot surf on the west coast again, not so great for windsurfing and kite-surfing this time though. If you’re going for a sea swim then the east coast will be smoothest again. High water will be around 6:10am and 6:40pm (8.2m and 8.6m respectively). Low water will be at lunchtime.
Monday to Wednesday
Weather
A force 4-5 W’ly wind will bring sunny spells but the small chance of a brief light shower on Monday. Then Tuesday‘s wind will back to a slightly warmer SW’ly and skies should be increasingly sunny. Then, after midnight, a band of rain will sweep through, maybe lasting into Wednesday morning’s rush hour, and then the rest of Wednesday is looking just as sunny as Tuesday but probably windier. Temperatures should carry on peaking between 19 and 21°C each day.
Surf and the Water
Sloppy 2 foot surf through most of this period, maybe with a couple of 3 foot lumps, but always gutless and weak. Wednesday currently looks best for windsurfing and kite-surfing. Swimming conditions will generally be best along the north and east coasts, but there will be a few sheltered nooks along the west coast at times. High tides will be around breakfast time and in the evenings (ranging between 8.6m and 9.4m). Low tides will be in the early afternoons.
Thursday and Friday
Weather
It’s not particularly certain, but it looks as though we might see some significant warming, as winds fall light and S’ly on Thursday and then back SE’ly on Friday. The combo of continental air and increasing sunshine could take temperatures as high as 25°C by the end of Friday. Watch this space for updates.
Surf and the Water
It’s a bit uncertain, but the surf will most likely be 2 feet and clean. There is a chance of some bigger waves but they will most probably hold off until the weekend. Swimming conditions should improve on all coasts, due to the reduction in wind-strength, but the north coast will generally be the best. High tides will be around mid-morning and dusk (ranging between 8.9m and 9.4m). Low tides will be in the mid-afternoons.
The next forecast update will be on Sunday or Monday…
