Saturday
Weather
Some cloudy spells with the chance showers in the morning and perhaps again the evening, but the weather should otherwise be sunny. The wind story isn’t so great though… force 5-6 SW’ly, possibly increasing force 7 at times in the afternoon, so we can expect to see lots of leaf litter and small branches on the ground (maybe a few big ones too). Max temperatures no higher than Friday, despite the sunshine, only reaching 19-21°C, with Town being the warmest area.
Surf and the Water
Low tide will be at midday and high tide will be at 6pm (7.9m). Windsurfing will be the main event, but the waves should be clean enough and big enough to surf (1—2 feet at the start of the day, increasing 3-5 feet by the end). Swimmers will find shelter in a few cosy nooks, but Fermain will probably be the cream of the crop.
Sunday
Weather
Much like Saturday, there will be a chance of showers in the morning but the afternoon should be increasingly sunny. Winds will be gentler than Saturday though, just force 4-5 at the start of the day, reducing force 3-4 by the end. Coming from a WSW’ly direction, the air won’t be any warmer though, so we can expect maxima of 19-21°C, with Town being the warmest area again.
Surf and the Water
Lumpy 4-5 foot surf, providing some rare action for shortboarders. The windsurfing or kite-surfing conditions should still be ok in the morning, but not so great in the afternoon. Swimming conditions will definitely be best on the east coast, but high tide Pembroke should also be quite smooth. Those high tides will be at 6:30am and 6:45pm. Low tide will be at lunchtime.
Monday and Tuesday
Weather
The wind will become gorgeously light… force 3 W’ly on Monday, then variable force 1-2 on Tuesday. The sunshine should steadily increase as well, with just a scattering of bubbly cumulus clouds covering about half the sky on Monday morning, but much less than that on Monday afternoon, and hardly any cloud at all on Tuesday. Lovely as that will be, temperatures will not get too lofty because we will be stuck in the same relatively cool air of the weekend. Max temps will probably be between 20-21°C on Monday, then 21-22°C on Tuesday.
Surf and the Water
The surf will be about 2 feet on Monday, then almost flat on Tuesday. Conditions will be absolutely great for swimming, kayaking and SUPing though. Tides will be high at breakfast time and in the evenings. Low tides will be in the early afternoons.
The Rest of Next Week
Weather
It’s looking like pleasant July weather but in a very average kind of way… force 3-4 WNW’ly winds bringing a mixture of cloud, sunshine and just the small chance of a shower or two. Max temps should be around 20-21°C and Town will always be the warmest part of the Island.
Surf and the Water
Maybe some sloppy 2 foot surf at times, but swimming will probably be the main activity in the sea, mainly along the east coast, but maybe in on or two south-coast spots, such as Petit Bot, Saints Bay or Moulin Huet. High tides will be in mid-mornings and again towards dusk. Low tides will be in the mid-afternoons.
The next forecast update will be on Sunday evening or Monday morning…
