Sunday
Weather
Fresh force 5 WSW’ly winds will bring pretty much the same weather as on Saturday, in terms of cloudy skies for a big chunk of the day. Just a few sunrays slipping through the cracks in the morning and then some longer sunny spells in the afternoon. There might be one or two showers during the cloudy part of the day, but nothing major until the overnight period (probably after midnight). Daytime temps should peak at 18-19°C in most areas, but we should easily climb to 20°C or perhaps even 21°C in Town. Overnight temps not expected to fall lower than 16°C.
Surf and the Water
Fairly choppy 3-5 foot surf, but it should be pretty fun, especially during the afternoon and evening. Swimming conditions will be best along the east coast, especially at Fermain in the late afternoon. Tides will be low around 11:20am, then high around 5:30pm (7.9m).
Monday
Weather
Force 5-6 SW’ly winds will bring quite a lot of near-horizontal rain in the morning and early afternoon. Some of it pretty heavy, so there will be some pretty big puddles in places. The late afternoon and evening should be dry and bright, but the winds will only relax a teeny bit (force 4-5), so it’s not going to suddenly feel amazing or anything. Max temps should be 18-19°C in most areas, but we might make it to 20°C in Town.
Surf and the Water
The 3-5 foot surf should be reasonably clean, but the windsurfing conditions will be best of all. Swimmers should definitely look for maximum shelter at the likes of Fermain Bay or Havelet. The tide will be high around 6am and 6:30pm (8m and 8.5m respectively). Low water will be at midday.
Tuesday and Wednesday
Weather
This will be very much like a repeat of Sunday and Monday… with force 4-5 WSW’ly winds bringing partly cloudy on Tuesday, with only a couple of brief light showers, but not a great deal of sunshine either. Then, just like Monday, Wednesday will kick off with that strong force 6 SW’ly, bringing heavy rain for a time. However, the rain should clear off a bit earlier, probably before lunchtime, leaving us with an even stronger (force 7) W’ly wind and an irritatingly autumnal feeling. Neither day will feel very warm, but temperatures won’t be any lower than recent days, so we are generally talking about 19-20°C for the daily maxima, and 14-16°C for the nightly minima.
Surf and the Water
Choppy surf all day Tuesday and again on Wednesday afternoon. Some lovely clean stuff on Wednesday morning though. Tuesday’s waves should be 6 feet and pretty solid. Wednesday’s waves will only be 2-3 feet but the windsurfing conditions will be pretty fantastic. The tide will be high around breakfast time and dinner time (8.5m at the start of Tuesday, 9.5m by the end of Wednesday). Low water will be around lunchtime.
Thursday and Friday
Weather
A couple of mostly sunny days, with moderate force 4 NW’ly breezes. There’s only the slimmest chance of a shower in the mornings, but they will probably be reserved for Jersey and France. Max temps should be 18°C in most northern and western areas, but we should easily climb to 19°C in the south and east, maybe even 20°C in Town.
Surf and the Water
Choppy 4-5 foot surf on the west coast, but maybe some clean 1-2 footers to play with on the south coast. As for the swimming conditions, they will definitely be best on the south and east coasts. The tide will be high around breakfast time and dusk (9.4m at the start of Thursday, 9.9m by the end of Friday). Low water will be around lunchtime.
The next forecast update will be on Monday or Tuesday…
