Friday
Weather
After a muggy night, the cloudy skies and hazy outlook will not be at all surprising. The air will be beautifully still all morning and afternoon, making everywhere feel really comfortable, even though skies will remain mostly cloudy. There will be some soft sunshine at times though, leading to a max temp of 23°C. There is the outside chance of a light shower during the morning and the afternoon, but it will really be around dinner time when both the wind and the rain come along and spoil the outdoor fun. That wind being SE’ly force 4, just picking up to force 5 for a time after dusk, when it begins to veer SW’ly.
Surf and the Water
Flat surf but beautifully smooth conditions all around the Island for swimming, kayaking and paddle-boarding. Just pick your spot according to the tide… High water will be at roughly 9am and pm (8.6m and 8.9m respectively), low water will be at 3pm.
Saturday
Weather
We will start off with the force 5 SW’ly wind that Friday night initiated, but this will decrease to a force 4 by midday and then light force 3 by dusk. Weather-wise, we are looking at a dry day, with a mixed bag of cloud and sunshine… the best of the sunshine probably coming in the afternoon, lifting the temperature to a max of 20-21°C in most places, but 22°C in Town.
Surf and the Water
A magic 4-6 foot swell should have arrived by dawn, gradually reducing to 3-4 feet as the day progresses but remaining very surfable indeed. Swimming conditions will be best along the north and east coasts, but there will be some suitably sheltered nooks along the west coast too (the later the better). High water will be around 9:20am (8.6m) and low water will be around 3:30pm.
Sunday
Weather
The finest day of the weekend, because the sunshine will be brighter and more plentiful, but most importantly the SSW’ly wind will be lovely and light… just force 2-3, making it feel gorgeously comfortable all around the Island and widely lifting the temperature to 22°C.
Surf and the Water
Super-clean 2-3 foot surf, along with excellent conditions for swimming, kayaking and paddle-boarding. High water will be around 9:45am (8.5m) and low water will be around 4pm.
Next Week
Weather
Mostly dry and sunny, with light and variable breezes at the start of the week, becoming NW’ly by the end. This means that the first half of the week should see daily maxima of 22-24°C, then the second half of the week should see daily maxima of 20-22°C, possibly making it the finest week of the school holidays so far. The only hints of showers are on Monday night and Thursday night at the moment, so they certainly aren’t threatening to spoil any outdoor activity, but there is the chance that our gardens will be given a tasty drop to drink.
Surf and the Water
Surfers should be blessed with clean 2 foot waves for at least the first two days (maybe three if we’re lucky), but the latter part of the week will most likely usher in a lengthy flat spell, as a pretty solid high pressure system becomes established mid-Atlantic. Tidal movements will be medium in size, with highs in the late mornings to begin with, and then through lunchtime in the latter part of the week. Swimmers will tend to find the smoothest waters on the north and west coasts.
The next forecast update will be on Monday morning…
