Saturday
Weather
Extreme similarity to Friday… moderate force 4 W’ly winds, bringing a scattering of tall cumulonimbus clouds to the area. When these clouds bump into the Island then they will deliver a brief and rather heavy shower, but the gaps between the clouds will be much much bigger, meaning that the majority of the day will be sunny, with superb visibility but unremarkable temperatures. Daytime max 19-20°C, overnight min 14-15°C.
Surf and the Water
Tiny choppy waves on the west coast and smooth swimming conditions on the east. Tiny tidal movements too… high water will be just 6.9m at 1:20pm. Low water will be at 8am and 9pm.
Sunday
Weather
The wind will blow from the a NW’ly direction on this day, maybe a tad stronger (probably fresh force 5 at times). Tall clouds that develop on their way across the Channel during the morning, probably won’t actually release their showers until they reach Jersey or beyond. Then, during the afternoon when the French landmass becomes a little hotter than the Islands, the showers will move even further away from Guersney. That said, we will see an increase in high cloud through the afternoon, turning the sunshine rather hazy, this is because a weak weather front will be approaching from the west, ready to give us a little drizzle after midnight. Daytime temperatures will be about the same as on Saturday (19-20°C for the max). Night time temperatures will be about a degree higher (15-16°C for the min).
Surf and the Water
Same again… just a little chop on the western waters but smooth swimming conditions to the east of the Island. Tidal movements will be tiny again, with low water at 9:50am, followed by a 6.9m high at 4pm.
Monday to Wednesday
Weather
Any drizzle from Sunday night shouldn’t last any longer than breakfast time. After that we are looking at three days that are rather similar to the weekend. Long spells of sunshine… sometimes dazzling and bright, sometimes soft and hazy. Showers cannot be ruled out altogether, but they will be very few and far between, so you should still manage to dry lots of laundry, mow lots of lawns and go for plenty of walks, swims and bike-rides. Winds will be NW’ly on Monday, W’ly on Tuesday, then SW’ly on Wednesday. This means that the west coast will always be the most exposed and the east coast will always be the most sheltered. However, the wind will be lighter than the weekend, probably light force 3 for the most part. Daytime max temps still around the 20°C mark. Overnight min temps generally around 15°C.
Surf and the Water
Tidal movements will get larger day by day, with lows around midday and highs around dinner time… 7.9m Monday. 8.7m Tuesday and 9.4m Wednesday. Winds will generally be light enough that even where it is onshore (out west) the water will be reasonably smooth. However, the east coast will maintain the silkiest conditions of all. As for the surf, there might be some weak little ripples that are just about rideable for kids, but full-size surfers will have to find something else to amuse them.
Thursday and Friday
Weather
This is really the uncertain end of the forecast with respect to rainfall, because there is a suggestion that heavy (possibly thundery) showers could affect us for a small part of the time or possibly a large part of the time. The airflow is looking gentle and generally S’ly, meaning that it will be rather warm and humid. Max temps will increase by just 1-2°C if skies are mostly cloudy, but they might increase by 3-4°C if skies are mostly sunny. Night time temperatures will also be higher than of late, with the humidity making it feel rather sticky and uncomfortable.
Surf and the Water
Smooth water all around the Island, but especially along the north and west coasts, great for swimming, kayaking and paddle-boarding, but I’m afraid the surf is likely to be flat. Tides will be low at lunchtime and high around breakfast time and dinner time… steadily becoming very large, picking up from 8.8m on Wednesday morning’s high to 10.2m on Friday evening’s high.
The next forecast update will be on Sunday evening…
