Monday
Weather
The NW’ly wind will be gentler than on Sunday (mostly light force 3, occasionally moderate force 4) and the sunshine should be a good deal more plentiful, especially during the afternoon. This will all result in jump of about 2°C in the temperature, taking us to a max of 20°C. The warmest feelings will be in Town and along the south coast, but the entire Island will feel a lot more comfortable than on Sunday.
Surf and the Water
Sloppy onshore surf like on Sunday but smaller I’m afraid… only 1-2 feet and week, so it will really only be good for kids. Swimming conditions will be best along the east and south coasts. Low water will be at 11:15am. High water will be at 7.9m and 5:15pm.
Tuesday and Wednesday
Weather
Two mostly dry and partly sunny days. The best of that sunshine will come on Tuesday afternoon and on Wednesday morning. There will be a little bit of rain but the timing will be excellent… turning up around dusk on Tuesday and clearing off around midnight, meaning that the gardens get a nice little drink, but daylight hours will be great for most outdoor activities on both days. Winds will be coming from a WNW’ly direction, so the air won’t feel or look vastly different from recent days. However, once again, much like on Monday, the lightness of the wind (mostly force 3, occasionally force 4) will mean that it feels nice and comfortable, especially in Town. Daily max temps 19-20°C in most parts of the Island, but 20-21°C
Surf and the Water
1 foot ripples on Tuesday, possibly picking up to 2 feet on Wednesday, so keen young surfers might catch a few little rides on the incoming tide. As for the swimming conditions, winds will be light enough for all coasts to be reasonably smooth, but the south and east coasts will be smoothest of all. Low tides will be around lunchtime and high tides will be around dawn and dinner time, steadily increasing from 8m on Tuesday morning’s high to 9.4m on Wednesday evenings high.
Thursday and Friday
Weather
I’ve got good news and bad news for the back end of the week. I’ll let you decide which is which, according to your preferences. Firstly, the air will be slightly warmer, come to us on a gentle SSW’ly breeze. Secondly, the air will also be quite humid and probably very wet at times… showers coming and going, some of them drizzly, some of them heavy and possibly even thundery. It’s uncertain how much sunshine will manage to sneak through, but daily max temperatures could be anything from 21°C to 23°C depending on how fortunate we are.
Surf and the Water
Flat surf through most of this period, but possibly increasing to 2-3 feet by the end of Friday. As for the swimming conditions, they will be best along the north coast, but also quite good along the east and west coasts. Low tides will be in the early afternoons and high tides will be around breakfast time and dusk, steadily increasing from 9.4m on Thursday morning’s high to 10.2m on Friday evenings high.
The Weekend
Weather
It looks as though we will maintain the warm and gentle S’ly airflow, but lose the wet weather. There’s a fair bit of uncertainty in the forecast detail, due to the presence of a couple of hurricanes on the other side of the Atlantic. The erratic behaviour of hurricanes often leads to unpredictable reactions in the Jetstream, which can have a large effect on our weather, even though the hurricanes are thousands of miles away. So what I’m saying is that there is plenty of scope for the forecast to go downhill, but forecast models are currently predicting a warm and sunny weekend to launch the month of September. Daily max temperatures possibly as high as 24°C.
Surf and the Water
Clean 2-3 foot surf on the west coast and smooth swimming conditions in most areas. Tides will be high in the mid-mornings and shortly after dusk (varying between 9.8m and 10.2m). Low tides will be in the mid-afternoons.
The next forecast update will be on Wednesday…
