Saturday
Weather
Just the chance of a shower or two in the first half of the morning. Otherwise, we are looking at a day of decent sunny spells, albeit made a bit hazy by the wisps of high cirrus cloud. Winds will only be light force 2-3… WSW’ly in the morning, backing SSW’ly in the afternoon. Max temperature roughly 18°C, which isn’t especially high but it should certainly feel a tad warmer than the previous couple of days.
Surf and the Water
The swimming conditions will be good in most parts of the Island, but especially along the east and north coasts. As for the west-coast surf, we are probably talking about 3 feet and semi-clean in the morning, followed by 2 feet and really clean in the afternoon. Tides will be high at 12:20pm (7m) and low at 7pm.
Sunday
Weather
A bit of give and take on this day… an increase in the temperature and the amount of sunshine, but also a significant increase in the wind-strength (fresh force 5 S’ly). The max temperature should be 20°C on this occasion, but to feel the heat you will really have to find a sheltered corner, such as around Pleinmont or Richmond. Needless to say, this will be a fantastic day for drying a couple of laundry loads.
Surf and the Water
The swimming conditions will be best along the north coast, and in some cosy west- coast nooks. As for the surf, well that’s going to become really quite big and powerful (thanks to the fact that ex-hurricane Nigel was the source region)… 4-5 feet in the morning, 6-8feet in the afternoon. Tides will be low at 7:40am and high at 2pm (6.8m).
Monday
Weather
There will be some patchy light rain and drizzle around dawn, possibly persisting through the morning rush-hour. But that will clear to sunny skies by lunchtime and that’s how it should stay for most of the afternoon. The max temp should be about the same as on Sunday… 20°C, but it will probably feel warmer than Sunday, because the wind will be slightly lighter… just a force 3-4 SW’ly.
Surf and the Water
The swimming conditions will be good in most parts of the Island, but especially along the east and north coasts. As for the west-coast surf, we are probably talking 4-5 feet and pretty clean. Tides will be low at 9:45am and high at 4pm (7.2m).
The Rest of Next Week
Weather
Friday looks likely to stay dry, but Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday all look wet at times. Wednesday, probably the wettest (10-15mm of rain) and the probably the windiest too (force 5 SW’ly). Temperatures should remain on the slightly high side for late September (always warmest in Town)… generally peaking between 19 and 21°C each day, followed by overnight minimums of between 14 and 16°C.
Surf and the Water
The west-coast surf should be 4-6 feet and fairly clean for the most part. Swimming conditions will generally be best on the north and east coasts. Tides will become big, as we go into the first spring-tide phase after the Autumnal Equinox… increasing day by day from roughly 8m high on Tuesday’s high to roughly 10m on Friday’s.
The next forecast update will be on Monday morning…
