Seven day Guernsey weather forecast for 29 September 2023

Image uploaded by Des Duarte

Saturday

Weather

A little cloudy at times in the morning, but sunshine should dominate the majority of the day. Winds will be very light SE’ly to start the day (just force 2), but then it will increase force 3 by mid-morning and perhaps briefly step up to moderate force 4 around lunchtime. The temperature will pick up from a chilly 10°C at dawn, to a very comfortable 20°C in the afternoon, then only fall to a minimum of 16°C overnight. Not bad for almost October eh!

Surf and the Water

Super-clean 2-3 foot surf on the exposed west-coast beaches and beautiful swimming conditions in the sheltered west-coast nooks (and along the north coast too). Big tides mean strong currents though, so take extra care for that. High tides will be 8am and 8:15pm (9.9m and 10.2m respectively), low tide will be at 2:20pm.

Sunday

Weather

Another max temperature of 20°C is likely, but it’s not out of the question that we will slither all the way up to 21°C. It all depends how much sunshine we see. I’m sure we will see some, but there is a chance that we will see quite a lot. You may remember from the previous forecasts that we were expecting rain on this day, but the weather-front in question is now expected to be parked about 30-40 miles to the northwest, so we should definitely stay dry, it’s just the cloud amount that is questionable. Wind-wise - becoming lovely and light… force 3-4 SSW’ly in the morning, then light force 2 WSW’ly in the afternoon.

Surf and the Water

Clean 2-3 foot surf again, and this time the swimming conditions will be super-smooth all around the Island. High tides will be 8:40am and 9pm (10m and 10.1m respectively), low tide will be at 3pm.

Monday

Weather

Cloudy, misty and perhaps occasionally drizzly. It’s not all bad though; we will probably see a couple of bright intervals here and there; the temperature will hover between 17 and 20°C throughout; and the wind will be lovely and light through the daytime (force 2-3 SSW’ly), only increasing to a moderate W’ly in the evening and then a fresh WNW’ly during the night time.

Surf and the Water

Fairly clean surf, a little bit smaller though… just 1-2 feet this time. Swimming conditions, pretty good all around the Island, but definitely best along the east coast. High tides will be 9:15am and 9:30pm (9.8m and 9.7m respectively), low tide will be at 3pm.

The Rest of Next Week

Weather

Tuesday will be sunny but that will be offset by the moderate force 4 WNW’ly wind. Then the rest of the week will probably be a bit cloudier but the wind will be lovely and light, coming from a variety of directions but never stronger than force 2-3. Temperatures generally peaking around 18-19°C each day and falling around 14°C during the nights.

Surf and the Water

The tidal movements will shrink day by day, with the first high of Tuesday being nearly 9.3m and the second high of Friday being slightly less than 7m. The surf will be a bit messy on Tuesday but pretty clean through the rest of the week, maintaining wave-heights of roughly 2-3 feet throughout. Swimming conditions will only really be smooth along the east coast on Tuesday, but they should be similarly silky all around the Island through the rest of the week.

The next forecast update will be on Monday morning…
