Guernsey Weather Fox

Seven day Guernsey weather forecast for 25 May 2024

Sunday

Weather

A bit windier and cooler than Saturday… with a moderate force 4 (perhaps occasionally fresh force 5) SW’ly wind in the morning, veering W’ly in the afternoon. Shower clouds will bubble up across the area, so there is a high chance that one or two of them will hit the Islands, but they ought to whistle through pretty swiftly, so if the laundry catches a quick splash whilst it’s out on the line, then it will probably dry out in a quicker time than it would have taken to unpeg it anyway. We should see some decent spells of sunshine as well, particularly during the afternoon, when the temperature will most likely peak at 17°C in St Peter Port.

Surf and the Water

The surf will be 3 feet and semi-clean in the morning, then 4 feet and rather choppy through the afternoon and evening. Kite-surfers will probably find they can have some fun as well. As for the swimming conditions, they will always be smoothest on the east coast. Tides will be high around 9am and 9:20pm (8.5m and 8.6m respectively). Low tide will be around 3:20pm.

Bank Holiday Monday

Weather

Very little difference from Sunday, except that the temperature will be a degree or two lower… peaking at 16°C in Town and struggling to exceed 15°C in other locations. Otherwise, we can expect to maintain the force 4-5 W’ly wind, with the greatest chance of showers during the morning and the greatest amount of sunshine during the afternoon.

Surf and the Water

The surf will be 4-5 feet and rather choppy. Windsurfers and kite-surfers should be loving it too. As for the swimming conditions, they will be smoothest on the east coast once again. Tides will be high around 9:45am (8.2m) and low around 4pm.

Tuesday to Thursday

Weather

Tuesday and Wednesday are looking mostly cloudy with occasional showers. However, there will probably be some bright spells during both afternoons. Then, on Thursday, we will probably stay dry and we should see more sunshine than the two previous days added together. Whilst this is happening, however, the moderate wind will be changing from a relatively warm direction to a cool one… SW’ly on Tuesday, WSW’ly on Wednesday, then WNW’ly on Thursday. As such, these elements will probably balance each other out to give the same max temperature of 16°C each day.

Surf and the Water

Choppy 5-6 foot surf, probably dropping to 4 feet and becoming even messier on Thursday. 3 more great days for windsurfers and kite-surfers (especially late Tuesday and early Wednesday). Once again, the east coast will be the place to head if you want a swim on Tuesday and Wednesday. However, on Thursday, the south coast should offer some equally smooth options.

Friday and The Weekend

Weather

An improving story… dry throughout, but with increasing amounts of sunshine and a decreasing NW’ly breeze. This should lead to max temperatures of 16°C, 17°C and 18°C respectively. Always feeling warmest in Town and along the south coast cliffs and beaches.

Surf and the Water

Cross-onshore winds making for choppy surf conditions, although by Sunday these winds might be light enough for some relative silkiness. Swimming conditions will generally be best along the south and east coasts, but the other coasts could be nice on Sunday if those winds fall light enough. Low tides will be in the early to mid mornings. High tides will be in the early to mid afternoons.

The next forecast update will be on Monday evening…
