Seven day Guernsey weather forecast for 05 June 2024

Thursday and Friday

Weather

A couple of days with extreme similarity to the Wednesday that went before them… very light WNW’ly breezes bringing bubbly cloud at times, but mostly sunny skies and incredibly good visibility. So it might not be warm enough for you to spend the day in swimwear, but it will be absolutely beautiful and comfortable… Just remember to protect your skin in the late morning and the early afternoon, because the UV index will be peaking at 7. Daytime maxima will generally be 17°C, but the warmest areas might just nudge up to 18°C. Overnight temperatures could be on the cool side, with a likely minimum of 9°C each night.

Surf and the Water

Beautiful conditions for sea-swimmers, especially on the south and east coasts. Paddle boarding and kayaking conditions will also be lovely, but there won’t be any action for surfers, windsurfers and kite-surfers I’m afraid. High tides will be around breakfast time and dusk (ranging between 8.9m and 8.9m). Low tides will be in the early afternoons.

The Weekend

Weather

As the breeze gradually nudges round to a NNW’ly direction, perhaps occasionally increasing to moderate force 4, we will probably see even less cloud. By Sunday, the sky is likely to just be blemishless blue. So it will still be essential to look after your skin, even though there won’t really be any change in the general coolness of the air… 17-18°C for the maxima and 9-10°C for the minima.

Surf and the Water

High tides will be between breakfast time and mid-morning (ranging between 8.5m and 8.9m). Low tides will be in the mid-afternoons. The surf prospects are looking as dismal as the previous days I’m afraid, but the south coast will continue to offer smooth-water bliss to sea-swimmers.

Next Week

Weather

The first half of the week looks like a simple continuation of the existing conditions… maybe a slightly higher chance of getting caught by a shower or two, but they will most likely fizzle away to nothing, as they depart England and wander across the cooler water of the Channel en-route to France. As we move through the second half of the week, it looks as though a low-pressure system will become established over Ireland, meaning that we will develop a milder SW’ly airflow… cloudier, probably wet at times, but with some sunny spells which will have the potential to take temperatures marginally north of the 20° mark.

Surf and the Water

Tidal movements will shrink from medium-sized to very small, with highs initially in the late mornings, but moving forward every day until they eventually occur in the early afternoons. Surfers will have to endure more tiny/flat conditions Monday to Wednesday, but there might well be some rideable 3-foot lumps through Thursday and Friday.

The next forecast update will be on Friday evening or Saturday morning…
