Seven day Guernsey weather forecast for 08 June 2024

Saturday

Weather

A cloudy start to the morning, but sunshine will start to bust through the cracks before lunchtime, and then those cracks will split wide open, to bless the afternoon with a bounty of sunshine and a top temperature of 17-18°C (very similar to Friday). Winds will be lovely and light, just force 2-3 WNW’ly, so the warmest area will be Town and the Bridge, closely followed by the south-coast cliffs and beaches.

Surf and the Water

As with most days of late, the south and east coasts will offer the smoothest swimming conditions, whilst the north and west will be starved of all the waves that surfers are no-doubt dreaming about. High tides will be at 8:40am and 8:50pm (8.7m and 8.9m respectively). Low tide will be around 3pm.

Sunday

Weather

Pretty much a cloudless day… maybe just a puff or two of cumulus cloud in the mid-late morning, bubbling up over the centre of the Island, then drifting south and evaporating over the sea. Gorgeous views in every direction, enhanced by the clarity of the air and the brightness of the light. That all comes courtesy of the light force 3 NW’ly breeze. Once again, this means that the warmest areas will be in eastern and southern parts. Max temps 17-18°C (Groundhog Day in that respect).

Surf and the Water

Another surfless day, but with lovely smooth water for swimming on the south and east coasts. High tides will be at 9:20am and 9:30pm (roughly 8.5m). Low tide will be around 3:30pm.

Monday to Wednesday

Weather

These three days all look the same as the previous few, in terms of wind and temperature. However, it looks as though there will be a few more cloudy spells and a greater risk of showers. These will tend to favour the overnight period and the early morning though, so we will hopefully manage to go about our days unhindered and comforted by the knowledge that our gardens and fields have benefited from a little natural hydration.

Surf and the Water

Tidal movements will shrink from medium-sized to quite small, with highs initially in the late mornings and lows in the late afternoons. Surfers will have to endure more tiny/flat conditions for the majority of the time, but there might well be some rideable 2-3 foot choppy/sloppy mush late Monday/early Tuesday. Swimmers will continue to find the smoothest water along the south and east coasts.

Thursday to Friday

Weather

As we move through the second half of the week, it looks as though a low-pressure system will become established over Ireland, meaning that we will develop a milder SSW’ly airflow… cloudier, probably wet at times, but with some sunny spells which will have the potential to take temperatures marginally north of the 20° mark. However, those max temps will all depend on the timing of events. If the fine weather only shows it’s hand in the early mornings and evenings, then the temperature will continue to be stuck in the teens.

Surf and the Water

Through Thursday, the surf will probably develop from flatness into sloppy 2-3 foot mush, then through Friday, those 2-3 foot waves will tend to line up nice and clean, and to push with a little more power. Swimmers will find smoothness on pretty much any coast except the south. High water tending to be best. Those highs will be around lunchtime (roughly 7m) and the low tides will be around breakfast time and dinner time.

The next forecast update will be on Monday evening…
