Guernsey Weather Fox

Seven day Guernsey weather forecast for 15 June 2024

Sunday

Weather

Brighter and a little warmer than Saturday… max temp 17°C in most places but maybe 18°C in Town. Winds won’t be anywhere near as pesky as on Saturday. The morning will have a moderate force 4 WSW’ly with partly cloudy skies, then the afternoon’s wind will be just light force 2-3 and the skies should be much sunnier.

Surf and the Water

5 foot surf at first, gradually shrinking to 3-4 feet through the day, but becoming much cleaner as it does so. Probably not windy enough for kites and sail-boards on this occasion, but generally better on all coasts for swimming, especially towards evening time. Low water will be around 9am and 9pm. High water will be at 3pm.

Monday and Tuesday

Weather

We should see temperatures rise to daily maxima of 19°C each day (possibly even 20°C on Monday). This is due to the wind being very light and variable (barely a breath) on Monday, then a light force 3 NE’ly on Tuesday, ushering in a bit of a continental influence. Monday currently looks dry with hazy sunshine for the majority of the day, then Monday night and Tuesday daytime will bring the threat of some heavy rain, as thunderstorms develop over Biscay and Brittany and then wander across the Channel to Southeast England. All parts of the Island should feel lovely on Monday. The rain is unlikely to miss us on Tuesday but once it has all cleared away then the most comfortable places to hang out will be along the south coast.

Surf and the Water

Super-clean surf, but falling very small and weak I’m afraid… just 2-3 feet on Monday and 1-2 feet on Tuesday. Beautifully smooth swimming on all coasts on Monday, then particularly along the south coast on Tuesday. Tides will be low in the mid-mornings and high in the mid-afternoons (7.2m and 7.6m respectively).

Wednesday to Friday

Weather

Moderate NE’ly winds on Wednesday, backing NW’ly on Thursday and then W’ly (and falling a bit lighter) on Friday. This means that the influence will gradually change from continental to maritime. Temperatures about average throughout (peaking at around 18 or maybe 19°C in the afternoons). The clouds will look quite different though, with French thunderstorms and a rather dusty atmosphere trying to encroach upon the Islands on Wednesday, then cleaner air through Thursday and Friday, meaning brighter sunshine and better visibility. The threat of a shower will gradually decrease but never entirely go away.

Surf and the Water

The surf will be flat on Wednesday, 1-2 feet and choppy on Thursday, then likely 3-4 feet and a bit cleaner on Friday. Tides will be low around midday and high around dinnertime. Wednesday and Thursday should offer decent swimming conditions along the south coast. Friday should then offer good windsurfing conditions along the west and north coasts.

Next Weekend

Weather

Sunshine and gentle W’ly breezes. Probably a bit cloudier in the late mornings, but that won’t make much difference. Temperatures should be about average for late June, peaking around 18 or maybe 19°C.

Surf and the Water

Sloppy but reasonably clean 3-4 foot waves. Smooth water for swimming on the east coast… only slightly choppier on the other coasts. Tides will be high at breakfast time and in the evenings (increasing incrementally from 8.4m to 8.8m. Low tides will be in the early afternoons.

The next forecast update will be on Tuesday…
