Monday
Weather
Dry and often sunny, but the moderate force 4 NW’ly wind will keep it on the cool side… max temps of just 17°C for many parts of the Island, but likely slipping up to 18 or 19°C in Town and maybe a couple of south coast locations.
Surf and the Water
Choppy 1-3 foot surf on the west coast, slightly more surfable than on Sunday. Winds will be offshore on the east and south coasts, so that’s where the water will be smoothest for swimmers. Tides will be low at 9:15am and then high at 3:15pm (7.6m).
Tuesday and Wednesday
Weather
Some drizzly showers are likely first thing in the morning, and maybe some mist patches for a brief time. Skies should brighten up by the afternoon though, because the cloud will generally be very high by then, allowing for hazy sunshine to filter through. The next few bouts of rain or drizzle will be through Wednesday… not just early morning on that occasion, but likely coming and going through the rest of the day as well. The wind will be NW’ly on Tuesday day and night (light force 3, occasionally nudging up to moderate force 4. On Wednesday, the wind will back to a WSW’ly direction and gradually strengthen, reaching fresh force 5 by evening time. Just like on Monday, the likely max temps will be 17°C in most areas, but probably a degree or two higher than that in Town.
Surf and the Water
Sloppy 1 foot waves on Tuesday, followed by a pulse of 2-3 foot swell on Wednesday. The east coast will always have the smoothest water for swimming, although the south coast will be similarly nice through much of Tuesday. Tides will be low in the late mornings and high in the late afternoons (7.7m and 8m respectively).
Thursday and Friday
Weather
A couple more average/slightly sub-average days. Dry, with a mixed bag of cloud and sunshine, but with temperatures still struggling to exceed 18°C, due to the force 4-5 WNW’ly wind on Thursday and then force 3-4 WSW’ly wind on Friday. Town will always be the warmest and most comfortable location.
Surf and the Water
Very choppy 3-4 foot surf on Thursday, followed by cleaner but much weaker 2 foot surf on Friday. As with every other day of the week, the east coast will be the smoothest for swimming. High tides will be around breakfast time and dinnertime. Low tides will be around lunchtime.
The Weekend
Weather
Moderate force 4 W’ly winds will probably lead to Saturday feeling and looking just like the days that preceded it. Sunday, however, should see a big reduction in wind, so the sunny spells will feel a good deal warmer. There’s a slight chance that we may hit 20°C again on Sunday. I must also point out though, that there is a chance of some rather heavy showers will push into the Channel from the Bay of Biscay. (Keep an eye on the updates to see how that story develops).
Surf and the Water
Choppy 3 foot surf on Saturday, probably maintaining its size and becoming cleaner on Sunday. This improvement should also extend to the swimming conditions… with smooth water confined to the east coast on Saturday, but spreading to all coasts on Sunday. High tides will be at breakfast time and in the evenings. Low tides will be in the early to mid afternoons.
The next forecast update will be with you on Tuesday or Wednesday…
