Wednesday
Weather
An increasingly sunny day, with barely a breath of wind, leading to a late afternoon peak temperature of 21°C, which should feel pretty gorgeous compared to Tuesdays rather pesky breeze. Evening time will turn a little cloudy though, possibly leading to a shower or two around midnight, which is always nice for the gardens.
Surf and the Water
Clean 1-2 foot surf in the morning, hopefully remaining rideable through the afternoon too. Beautifully glassy conditions on all coasts for swimming, kayaking and paddle-boarding. The tide will be low at 9:40am. High tide will be 7m at 4pm.
Thursday and Friday
Weather
Another couple of near-windless days. Thursday morning rather cloudy for a while, but then gorgeously sunny though the afternoon and then for all of Friday. Temperatures will likely peak between 22 and 23°C on both days. All coasts generally feeling beautiful, but Town’s temperature will always be just that tiny bit higher.
Surf and the Water
The surf looks likely to be flat on Thursday, but it’s currently expected to pick up to 2 feet for Friday. The lack of wind will mean that all coasts are great for swimming, kayaking and paddle-boarding. Tides will be low around 11am and midday respectively. High tides will be around 5pm and 6pm respectively (7.4m then 7.9m).
The Weekend
Weather
It’s a downhill slide through the weekend, but it won’t all be bad… Saturday will have very light winds at least until late evening, making it feel warm and comfortable despite the cloudy skies and the likelihood of some heavy (maybe thundery) showers in the second half of the day. Sunday will have pretty strong W’ly winds (most likely force 5), sunny spells and a few fleeting showers. Temperatures will likely peak at 20-21°C on Saturday and then just 18-19°C on Sunday.
Surf and the Water
Saturday’s surf should be 1-3 feet and clean. Sundays will most likely be 4 feet but choppy. Swimming conditions will be pretty good on all coasts on Saturday but, through Sunday, the east coast will most definitely be the smoothest option. Tides will be high around breakfast time and dinner time (increasing incrementally from 7.9m to 8.8m). Low tides will be at lunchtime.
Next Week
Weather
Monday, Thursday and Friday all look rather cloudy with showers and moderate winds. Tuesday and Wednesday look like a nice little oasis of dryness and sunshine, perhaps also with slightly less wind. Temperatures won’t climb too high though, because the airflow will always be coming at us from either the west or the north, never from the warmer continental regions. Daily maxima of 19°C are most likely (give or take a degree).
Surf and the Water
Big tidal movements, with highs in the mornings (peaking at 9.5m on Wednesday) and lows in the afternoons. The surf looks as though it probably won’t fall flat… maybe as small as 1 foot on some days, but probably 2-3 feet for the majority of the time. Generally choppy though, so probably best to keep your expectations low. Swimming conditions will generally be best on the east coast, but the other coast should see a few windows of smoothness.
The next forecast update will be on Saturday morning...
