Guernsey Weather Fox

Seven day Guernsey weather forecast for 22 July 2024

Monday

Weather

A grey and murky day, with the cloud being low enough to bring drizzle, mist and hill-fog in the morning, (perhaps at lunchtime) and also in the late evening. The afternoon should be slightly drier and clearer for the most part, with a brief spell of sunshine likely. The air will be on the mild side, so we should see a max temp of 19-20°C.

Surf and the Water

Sloppy 3-foot surf on the west coast, cleanest in the morning and the evening, rather choppy in the afternoon. Swimming conditions will be best on the east coast, followed by the north coast and a few sheltered west-coast corners. High tides will be 8.7m around 8am and 9.2m around 8:20pm. Low tide will be around 2:30pm.

Tuesday and Wednesday

Weather

Just the smallest chance of a shower on Tuesday morning, but the rest of these two days should be nice and dry. Skies will be a mixed bag of cloud and sunshine, so the wind will be the feature that has the greatest effect on temperature… moderate force 4 WNW’y on Tuesday morning, then light force 3 on Tuesday afternoon, followed by light force 2 through most of Wednesday. The resulting max temps should be 20-21°C on Tuesday and then 22°C on Wednesday.

Surf and the Water

Some stronger 4-foot surf on Tuesday (choppy in the morning, becoming much cleaner towards evening). Then on Wednesday, the surf will be much cleaner again, but it will only be 2-3 feet. Tuesday’s swimming conditions will generally be best along the east coast, but Wednesday’s should be lovely on all coasts. High tides around breakfast time and dusk (ranging between 9m and 9.5m). Low tide will be in the mid-afternoons.

Thursday and Friday

Weather

Two days of sunshine and showers. The showers will be a bit hit and miss, so we can expect the dry time to be much more plentiful. However, the details are uncertain, so it would be a good idea to monitor the forecast updates. With light force 2-3 SW’ly winds on Thursday, veering WNW on Friday, we will probably find that Thursday is the warmest day, by a whisker… max temps should be about 22°C on Thursday and just 21°C on Friday.

Surf and the Water

Cleanish 2 foot surf on both days, and great swimming/paddling conditions on most coasts too. High tides will be in the late mornings (9.1m and 8.9m respectively) and low tides will be in the late afternoons.

The Weekend

Weather

Straightforward sunny weather on both days. The wind will be light force 3 for the most part, occasionally slipping up to moderate force 4. The direction will be of greatest significance, with Sundays’ ENE’ly being slightly warmer than Saturday’s NNE’ly. Most likely max temps will therefore be 21°C on Saturday and 22-23°C on Sunday.

Surf and the Water

Another couple of 2-foot surf days, with the west-coast conditions becoming increasingly clean. If it’s swimming conditions that you’re interested in, then you will generally find the south coast to have the smoothest water on this occasion. High tides around midday (ranging between 8 and 8.5m). Low tide will be around dinner time.

The next forecast update will be on Wednesday or Thursday…
