Wednesday
Weather
No longer looking like a thundery showers day for us… a rather cloudy morning but all that excitement will probably be confined to the continent. By lunchtime, we will have super-sunny skies and roasty toasty temperatures. The most likely max will be 25-26°C in the mid-afternoon, with only a little light refreshment being provided by the light force 3 NNE’ly breeze. The night time will be very warm as well, with the temperature probably not falling any lower than 17 or 18°C.
Surf and the Water
The surf will be 1-2 feet and weak, making it suitable for big foam boards but little else. The swimming conditions will be beautiful though, especially along the south coast and in the northern corners of the west-coast bays. Low tide will be at 10am. High tide will be 7.2m at 4:10pm.
Thursday and Friday
Weather
Cooler air (or perhaps I should say less hot) will be brought into the area by a W’ly breeze (force 3-4 on Thursday, then force 2-3 on Friday). The dry and sunny weather should still take temperatures to a very respectable maximum of 22-23°C on both days... Town always feeling warmest (and possibly even stretching to 24°C on Thursday).
Surf and the Water
The surf will be virtually flat both days… maybe the odd rideable ripple for very young kids. Swimming conditions will be lovely and smooth along the east coast, and pretty lovely along the south coast first thing in the morning. The north and west coasts will generally be on the choppy side, especially on Thursday. Tides will be low at 11:15am and 12:15pm respectively. High tides will be around dawn and dinner time (increasing incrementally from 7.2m to 8m).
The Weekend
Weather
Saturday will kick off with cloudy skies and showery rain, but it should have become dry and sunny by lunchtime. It should remain that way for the rest of the weekend, although Sunday’s sunshine will probably be very hazy, due to a pretty thick blanket of high cirrus cloud. Saturday’s winds will start off moderate to fresh SW’ly, but they will have flipped NW’ly by lunchtime, and then they will gradually reduce to just light W’ly breezes through the rest of the weekend. Temperatures will be relatively low, with the most likely maxima being 21°C on Saturday and just 20°C on Sunday. Once again, Town will always feel warmest.
Surf and the Water
The surf will increase to 2-3 feet through Saturday and then it should remain about 3 feet and be reasonably clean through Sunday. Swimming conditions will be lovely and smooth along the east coast throughout the weekend, but the other coasts will also have special moments when the wind is at its lightest. Tides will be low at lunchtime. High tides will be around breakfast time and in the evenings (increasing incrementally from 8m to 8.7m).
The next forecast update will be on Saturday…
