Guernsey Weather Fox

Seven day Guernsey weather forecast for 12 August 2024

Tuesday and Wednesday

Weather

A mixture of cloud and sunshine, but likely bone-dry throughout daylight hours… just a brief spell of rain during the night time. Winds will be lighter than on Monday… likely a force 2-3 SW’ly on Tuesday and then a similarly light NW’ly on Wednesday. Max temps of 22°C will be likely in most areas, but 23°C will be possible in Town.

Surf and the Water

The surf will be 2-3 feet and clean on Tuesday, then 4-5 feet and almost as clean on Wednesday. Swimming conditions will be lovely all around the Island. Tides will be high at lunchtime (tiny… just 6.9m and 6.7m respectively). Low tides will be around breakfast time and dinnertime.

Thursday and Friday

Weather

Rather like the previous two days, these won’t be especially warm, due to the influence of the sea rather than the continent. The influence will be slightly stronger on this occasion though… a moderate force 4 SW’ly wind on Thursday followed by a similarly perky WNW’ly on Friday. Regarding rainfall, it looks as though daytime Thursday will all be dry and mostly sunny, but it looks as though there will then be quite a lengthy spell of drizzly rain during the night time. Friday, will then be cloudy with occasional showers, right through until mid-afternoon, the sunshine not really reveling itself until close to evening time. Daytime max temps will be 22-23°C on Thursday but only about 20-21°C on Friday.

Surf and the Water

The surf will be 4 feet and reasonably clean on Thursday. No smaller on Friday but quite a lot choppier. Swimming conditions will be best along the east coast on both days, but Thursday might see some smoothness in some nooks of the north and west coasts too, then Friday might see similar conditions in some south-coast nooks. Tides will be high in the afternoons (tiny again… just 6.7m and 7.2m respectively). Low tides will be around breakfast time and dinnertime.

The Weekend

Weather

Both days should be dry and mostly sunny but we will still have the relatively cool WNW’ly airflow that Friday left us with, so the max temperature will only be about 21°C on both days. The breeze will be a tad lighter though… only force 3, so it should feel pretty comfortable, especially on the east and south coasts.

Surf and the Water

Semi-clean 1-3 foot surf. Decent swimming conditions in most areas but definitely best of all along the east and south coasts. Low tides will be around midday, high tides will be around dawn and dinnertime (increasing from 7.3m on Saturday morning to 8.6m on Sunday evening).

The next forecast update will be on Wednesday evening…
