Seven day Guernsey weather forecast for 01 October 2024

Tuesday

Weather

Force 3-4 NW’ly breezes will bring partially cloudy skies, with plenty of sunshine slipping through the cracks in the morning, then blazing through some bigger holes in the afternoon. The bubbly clouds could possibly produce the odd light shower, but it’s far more likely that we’ll stay dry until some time late at night. Max temps will be 15°C in most areas but probably 16 degrees in Town and along the south coast.

Surf and the Water

Sloppy but very rideable 4 foot surf, gradually reducing to 2-3 feet. Swimming conditions will be smoothest along the south and east coasts. High tides will be around dawn and dusk (8.5m and 8.8m respectively). Low tide will be at 1pm.

Wednesday

Weather

A little more cloud and certainly a greater risk of showers than on Tuesday. The breeze this time being a force 3-4 N’ly in the morning, veering to a NE’ly in the afternoon. Showers will be most frequent in the evening but none of them particularly heavy. Max temps will be about the same as Tuesday 15-16°C, with the south coast certainly feeling most comfortable.

Surf and the Water

1-3 foot surf, rather spoilt by the cross-shore wind. Swimming conditions will be smoothest along the south coast. High tide will be at 7:15am and 7:30pm (8.9m and 9.1m respectively). Low tide will be at 1:30pm.

Thursday and Friday

Weather

A couple of straight-forward dry and mostly sunny days, with a force 4 E’ly wind on Thursday and the just a force 2-3 SE’ly on Friday. Thursday’s sunshine will probably be brightest, then Friday’s will be hazy due to a steady invasion of high cirrus cloud from the west (that should make for a beautiful sunrise and sunset though). Temperatures will be much like the previous days… peaking around 16°C, but on this occasion it will be the west coast that really feels nicest. Night time temperatures have generally been to ordinary to warrant a comment so far, but Thursday night could be a bit on the chilly side… a likely minimum of 8°C.

Surf and the Water

The surf will generally be 2 feet and increasingly clean… Friday’s form being particularly perfect (if only it was a bit bigger). The north and west coasts will generally be loveliest for swimming, although the breeze should be light enough for all coasts to be good on Friday. Tides will be high at breakfast time (9.1m) and low in the early afternoons.

The Weekend

Weather

Mostly cloudy on Saturday but probably dry right up until dusk, which is when some fairly heavy showers will arrive. Those showers will come and go through Sunday, with some brightness in between, but probably never any really solid sunshine. Winds will be stronger than the previous days… a force 5 (perhaps briefly force 6) SSE’ly on Saturday, followed by a force 4-5 SSW’ly on Sunday. Max temps on Saturday just like the rest of the week… same old solid 16°C. However, on Sunday it’s probably going to be 17°C or maybe even 18°C.

Surf and the Water

Super-clean waves all weekend (2 feet on Saturday, probably picking up to 3-4 feet on Sunday). The north and west coasts will certainly be the best for swimming, especially towards high water in order to dodge the wind… speaking of which, the windsurfing and kite-surfing conditions should become pretty good too. Tides will be high around 9am (9m and 8.6m respectively) and low in the mid-afternoons.

The next forecast update will be on Thursday evening or Friday morning…
