Friday
Weather
After a relatively turbulent week, Thursday’s cool sunshine and relatively light winds were a welcome change. Friday offers similar conditions, but with a much smaller chance of there being any showers. The breeze will be light force 2-3 E’ly, making all areas feel pleasant enough but the west coast will really be loveliest of all. Max temp only about 14°C, but at least there won’t be any wind-chill. Overnight temperatures won’t be as low as the previous night, because (after a very colourful sunset) skies will be much cloudier. The min temp should be about 10-11°C.
Surf and the Water
The surf will gradually reduce from 3 feet and quite powerful, to 2 feet and pretty ordinary. All lovely and clean though. Swimming conditions will be nice and smooth in most areas, especially due to the smallness of the tides… high will only be 6.8m at lunchtime (low tides will be around dawn and dusk).
Saturday
Weather
Even less wind than on Friday… variable light force 1-2 for most of the day, then just a light force 3 NW’ly in the evening and overnight. This will allow all coasts and parishes to feel lovely, even though the air will be inherently cool, with bright lunchtime sunshine only lifting the mercury to the 15-16°C mark. High cloud will thicken up towards evening, leading to another gorgeous sunset. However, it won’t thicken up enough to insulate the Islands during the night time, so we can expect a relatively low min temp of just 8°C on this occasion.
Surf and the Water
The surf will only be 1 foot for the most part, but there might be a few sneaky 2-footers during thje morning. Once again, swimming conditions will be lovely and smooth in most places for most of the day. Low tide will be at 8am. High tide will be at 2:20pm (6.8m again).
Sunday
Weather
Once again, whilst we fall into a nether region between weather systems, our winds will be very light and from no particular direction… for most of the day anyway. Towards evening however, and then through the night time, an Atlantic low pressure system will nudge a little bit closer, so this will give us a light force 3 S’ly breeze and the chance of a heavy shower (possibly a thunderstorm) around midnight. Max daytime temp 16-17°C. Min overnight temp 13-14°C.
Surf and the Water
Kind of like Saturday in reverse… 1 foot surf through most of the day, but the likelihood of some juicier 2-footers will be greater in the afternoon. Lovely smooth swimming conditions again. Low tide around 10am. High tide around 4pm (7.4m).
Next Week
Weather
The week will kick off with 2-3 days of rising temperatures, coming from a warm and humid S’ly airflow. This will bring bright skies and dramatic clouds on Monday, followed by heavy showers or thunderstorms on Tuesday and Wednesday. Those S’ly winds will be light force 3 to moderate force 4 on Monday and Tuesday, then it might step up to fresh force 5 on Wednesday, just before veering W’ly for Wednesday night and Thursday. The weather on Thursday will probably be dry and sunny, allowing the temperatures to remain as high as on the previous days (daily maxima of 17-18°C). However, it currently looks as though Friday will turn unsettled again, as a deep low pressure system moves over northwest Britain… probably finishing our working week with strong force 6-7 SW’ly winds ahead of an approaching weather front.
Surf and the Water
Super-clean surf for the vast majority of the week. The size will vary though… 1 foot increasing to 3 feet through Monday and Tuesday, then likely 4-6 feet from Wednesday onward. Big tides (becoming very big actually), with highs around dawn and dusk… increasing from roughly 8m on Monday to 10m on Friday.
The next forecast update will on Saturday or Sunday…
