Monday
Weather
A moderate force 4 SW’ly breeze will bring an overcast and occasionally drizzly morning. Come lunchtime, the wind will veer W’ly, lift the cloud and break it up enough to let the sunshine through. Then, come evening time, the breeze will have relaxed to a variable light force 1-2, meaning that sunset will be an absolutely gorgeous time to take a stroll or even to treat yourself to a late-season BBQ. Temperatures will peak at about 16°C by day and then fall to about 12 or 13°C overnight.
Surf and the Water
The surf will be virtually flat, but the east coast will play host to good swimming conditions, especially during the afternoon when the tide is high and the sun is out. Low water will be at 11am. High water will be 8.2m at 5pm.
Tuesday
Weather
The day will kick off with a light force 3 SE’ly breeze, but this will spruce up to moderate force 4 by lunchtime. Furthermore, the scattering of cloud will have filled in and bubbled up enough to produce a shower or two (maybe). By evening time, the shower risk will be much greater and we might even be treated to a thunderstorm or two during the night time. Humid air will lead to reasonably high temperatures… 17-18°C for the daytime max, then 15-16°C for the overnight min.
Surf and the Water
Clean 1-2 foot west-coast surf, hopefully making some cruisy little rides for longboards and SUPs. The west coast will also play host (along with the north) to the smoothest swimming conditions. Especially around dawn and dusk. The high tides will be 8.4m at 5:30am and 9m at 5:50pm. Low water will be around midday.
Wednesday and Thursday
Weather
The wettest day of the week will probably be Wednesday and the sunniest will probably be Thursday. However, the temperature is likely to be the same on each day (peaking at 17°C) because Wednesday’s force 3-4 SSE’ly will bring inherently warm air, despite the lack of sunshine on that day. Thursday’s wind will remain force 3-4 but it will come from a WSW’ly direction, meaning that the east coast will be the best area to enjoy the fine weather on that day.
Surf and the Water
Gorgeous 3 foot surf on Wednesday, followed by some slightly choppy by absolutely solid surf on Thursday (6+ feet). Swimming conditions will be best in the west and north on Wednesday, then best in the east on Thursday. Tides will be low at lunchtime and high around dawn and dusk… those highs increasing incrementally from 9.1m on Wednesday morning to 10m on Thursday evening.
Friday and the Weekend
Weather
Thursday’s oasis of sunshine will be chased away by strong force 6 SW’ly wind on Friday. Skies will be cloudy throughout the day, but it probably won’t turn wet until the afternoon, and then that rain probably won’t turn heavy until the night time. Saturday and Sunday should then follow along with sunshine and showers. Saturday, with its fresh force 5 W’ly breeze, will probably be weighted in favour of sunshine. Sunday, with a similarly strong SW’ly will probably be weighted in favour of showers. Max temps should be around 16°C each day.
Surf and the Water
Choppy 6 foot surf on Saturday, bookended by clean 4-5 foot surf on Friday and Sunday. As for the swimming conditions, they will be smoothest along the east coast on all three days. The tides will be very large (and very splashy out west), with highs around breakfast time and in the evenings (between 8 and 10pm). The biggest tides will be through Friday and Saturday… roughly 10m. Then they will be slightly smaller on Sunday, with highs of 9.8m and 9.5m respectively.
The next forecast update will on Tuesday evening or Wednesday morning…
