Seven day Guernsey weather forecast for 22 October 2024

Wednesday

Weather

The gentlest SE’ly breezes (force 2 in the morning, force 3 in the afternoon) will bring super-sunny skies and sparkling visibility to the Islands. Temperatures will peak at 16°C in the afternoon and then fall to a minimum of 12°C overnight.

Surf and the Water

Super-clean 3-4 foot surf, reducing to 2 foot by the end of the day. Tides will be much smaller than recent days, with a high 7.7m at 11am, then a low of 3.1m at 5:30pm. Swimming conditions should be lovely on all coasts through much of the morning, but certainly best on the west and north coasts through lunchtime and the afternoon.

Thursday

Weather

Winds will have ramped up to force 4-5 by dawn Thursday… still SE’ly at dawn but veering S’ly and increasing slightly after dusk. Skies will be lovely and sunny again, although cloud will start to invade the western horizon towards dusk, and then there could be a heavy shower or two towards midnight. Temperatures will peak at 17-18°C in the afternoon (but the wind will make it feel as though it’s cooler than that).

Surf and the Water

Another day of super-clean and super-powerful surf… 6-8 feet all day. Smooth swimming conditions Super-clean 1-2 foot waves, ideal for longboarders and SUP riders. Probably enough breeze for kite-surfers to have fun too. The tide will be smaller again, with a high of just 7m at midday. If you are swimming then the west and north coasts will be most sheltered… the higher the tide the better.

Friday

Weather

Sunny spells and occasional showers (most likely around dawn and then again around lunchtime). Winds will be pretty strong… force 5-6 (SSW’ly at dawn, veering WSW’ly by dusk). Temperatures only peaking at 15°C, so feeling quite a bit cooler than the previous day.

Surf and the Water

Good windsurfing and kitesurfing conditions, along with some 4 foot surf on the west coast (clean in the morning, choppy by evening). Meanwhile, swimmers will find some lovely smooth water in eastern bays such as Fermain. Low tide will be around dawn, then high tide will be at 1:30pm (just 6.8m)

The Weekend

Weather

Saturday will be very similar to Friday in terms of wind and temperature, but the showers will be more frequent and the sunshine much less plentiful. Sunday should be a the better day of the weekend, with a force 3-4 W’ly breeze bringing dry weather and partial sunshine. As a result, the temperature should climb about a degree higher, so probably peaking at 16°C.

Surf and the Water

Tides will be low in the mornings and high in the afternoons (6.8m and 7.2m respectively). The surf will be reasonably clean… 4 feet on Saturday and just 2-3 feet on Sunday. Windsurfing and kitesurfing conditions should be pretty good out west (at least on Saturday), whilst swimming conditions are best in the east on both days.
