Saturday
Weather
A dry and sunny day with very light winds… just a force 2 S’ly in the morning, switching to an equally nothingy N’ly in the afternoon. Everywhere will feel comfortable but the sun is really lacking in power now (the final day of BST), so the max air temperature will only be about 15-16°C which is no higher than the sea temperature at the moment. As for the overnight minimum, that will be about 10°C in most places but probably just 9°C in the various valleys.
Surf and the Water
The surf will be gorgeously clean… 4-5 feet at the start of the day, shrinking to 2-3 feet by the end. Swimming conditions should be lovely on all coasts because the breeze will be so light. Tiny tides, with a low of 4.3m at 9:10am, followed by a high of 6.8m at 3:15pm.
Sunday
Weather
Another sunny one on the whole, although there will be quite a lot of high cloud, which will soften that sunshine at times and also give us a beautifully colourful sunrise and sunset. With the force 2 N’ly breeze continuing, the temperature of the air will be about a degree lower than on Saturday, the most likely max will be between 14 and 15°C. As for the overnight minimum, that will be about 9°C in most places but probably just 8°C in the various valleys.
Surf and the Water
The surf will be fairly clean again… just 2 feet on this day though, so really only of interest to small children, longboarders and SUP riders. Swimming conditions should be good on all coasts but nicest of all along the south. Tides will be low of (3.9m) at 9:25am, then high (7.2m) at 3:20pm. (If you think those times look a bit strange then don’t forget that it’s clock change day).
Monday and Tuesday
Weather
The breeze will be a force 2-3 WSW though these two days, which will bring milder air but also quite a lot of low cloud. Skies will therefore be grey for the majority of the time (less so in St Peter Port). On Tuesday the cloud might even be thick enough for some mist and drizzle, but this is very uncertain at the moment. Temperatures will generally peak around 15°C in the daytime and then only fall to about 12°C in the night time.
Surf and the Water
Monday’s surf will be a sloppy 1-2 feet, so very missable, but Tuesday’s should be 2-3 feet around dawn, increasing to 4 feet by dusk. Once again, the lightness of the wind will mean that all coasts are great for swimming. Tides will be low in the late mornings and high in the late afternoons… gradually getting bigger with a high of 7.8m on Monday and 8.1m on Tuesday.
Next Week
Weather
Three days of E’ly or NE’ly breezes (light force 2-3, gradually increasing to moderate force 4), bringing mostly (but not entirely) cloudy skies. Steady temperatures… ranging between 12 and 15°C. Just the slight chance of a few drizzly showers on Friday, but this is even more uncertain than the ones I suggested on Tuesday.
Surf and the Water
Waves will be about 3 feet and beautifully clean on Wednesday, but they will most probably get smaller and choppier through Thursday and Friday. Tides will be medium-large, with highs a little before dawn and a little after dusk, increasing from roughly 8.3m to 8.8m.
The next forecast update will on Monday…
