Tuesday
Weather
Only the smallest chance of a shower before 3pm, but then a high chance of showers towards dusk and through the evening. The main spoiler of the weather will be the strength of the NNE’ly wind… fresh force 5 and really feeling quite chilly. 12-13°C will be the max temperature, but the wind will make it feel more like 8°C. If you want to seek some shelter then the south coast will certainly be the best place for that.
Surf and the Water
Choppy 2 foot surf, very forgettable I’m afraid. Possibly windy enough for kitesurfers though. Swimming conditions will be best along the south coast, and maybe in one or two cosy-corners of the west coast around high tide. Low water will be around 9:30am and high tide around 3:30pm (8.1m).
Wednesday and Thursday
Weather
We should definitely get our fair share of sunny spells. What’s much less certain is whether we will see any showers through these two days. It’s expected that they will form a line through the Channel, extending westwards from the Dover strait. That line might well sit about 15-20 miles north of Guernsey, in which case we will stay dry. However, if Guernsey is in the line of fire then we will catch plenty of minor soakings across the two days. The wind direction will be ENE’ly throughout, but it will be stronger and therefore feel colder on Wednesday. Force 4-5 on that day, making the 12°C max feel more like 8°C. Then force 2-3°C on Thursday, making the 12°C max feel exactly as it should.
Surf and the Water
The surf will still be small (1-2 feet on Wednesday and 2-3 feet on Thursday). Conditions will still be rather choppy in the side-shore wind on Wednesday, then cleaner on Thursday as this wind falls nice and light. Swimming conditions will still be best in the sheltered corners of the south and west coasts on Wednesday, then pretty good on all coasts on Thursday. Tides becoming quite large, with lows in the late mornings and highs around dusk (8.7m on Wednesday and 9.2m on Thursday).
Friday and The Weekend
Weather
Dry and partly sunny through Friday and Saturday (and maybe Sunday morning), whilst winds are very light and generally SE’ly°C. At some point on Sunday, things are set to change though, as a fairly deep low pressure system moves across the UK, bringing fresh to strong SW’ly winds along with some rather heavy rain. The final day of the forecast period is always the least certain, but that’s the way it’s currently looking. Furthermore, the following week looks likely to turn even more unsettled and stormy, so the take-home message is to make the most of Friday and Saturday. Max temps generally around 11°C, min temps around 7°C.
Surf and the Water
Super-clean but very small surf on Friday and Saturday (1-2 feet max) but hopefully getting slightly bigger on Sunday. Swimming conditions will generally be best out west. Tides will be low around lunchtime and high around dawn/after dusk… pretty whopping, ranging between 9.4m and 9.7m.
The next forecast update will be on Thursday…
