Saturday
Weather
The S’ly wind will be strong force 6-7 and very gusty. The air will be so much milder than the previous days though, so in that respect it’s going to feel quite a lot nicer. Skies will be cloudy throughout, mostly dry but occasionally a bit drizzly, mainly in the afternoon. Temperatures will hover around 11°C at dawn and about 14-15°C by dusk.
Surf and the Water
Super-clean surf, increasing from 2-3 feet at dawn to around 6 feet by dusk. Winds will be tough to manage for surfers, but the most hardcore windsurfers will probably love it. Tidal movements will be nice and small, with a high of just 7.1m at 11:45am.
Sunday
Weather
The morning will be pretty much the same as Saturday, but the afternoon and evening will be give and take… less windy (force 4-5 SW’ly) but more rainy (quite heavy and persistent, leading to about 15mm in total). Temperatures will hover around 15-16C all day (which is very mild indeed compared to the week just gone), then drop to around 10°C overnight.
Surf and the Water
Clean surf again. Pretty chunky on the west coast (8+ feet), so anyone who prefers it in the 1-3 foot range should probably have a look at L’Ancress in the afternoon. Tidal movements will be nice and small again, with a high of just 7m at 1pm.
Monday and Tuesday
Weather
As the wind blows force 4 W’ly on Monday then force 3 SW’ly on Tuesday, the temperature will be a bit more normal… 11°C for the maxima and 7-8°C for the minima. Town, being both urban and sheltered, will always feel warmest. The weather will be a mixed bag of sunshine and showers both days. Then, on Tuesday night, the showers will possibly merge into a longer spell of heavier rain.
Surf and the Water
The surf will still be 8+feet on Monday, but much choppier than the previous days. Tuesday will be a bit cleaner and the size more manageable (around 5 feet). Swimming conditions will be pretty good on the east coast, especially in the afternoons. Tides will be 7.1m high at 2:15pm on Monday, then 7.3m high at 3:10pm on Tuesday.
Wednesday to Friday
Weather
High pressure will bring a bit of respite from all the wet weather… skies should be mostly sunny and dry throughout this period. Winds should be force 3-4 N’ly on Wednesday, force 1-2 variable on Thursday and then force 3-4 SE’ly on Friday. Temperatures should peak at about 12°C each day… not quite as mild as Monday and Tuesday but a whole lot more pleasant.
Surf and the Water
The surf should be about 4 feet and a bit choppy on Wednesday, then about 5-6 feet and clean through Thursday and Friday. Tides will be medium-large in size… increasing from a high of 7.7m on Wednesday afternoon, to 8.3m on Friday around dusk.
The next forecast update will be on Sunday evening or Monday morning…
