Wednesday
Weather
A little rain and drizzle through the first half of the morning, then dry but largely cloudy through the rest of the day. The mildest air will be over the Islands in the morning… rough 13°C, then the afternoon, although drier and with lighter winds, will be cooler at just 10-11°C. Those winds will be force 4-5 W’ly in the morning, then light force 3 NNW’ly in the afternoon.
Surf and the Water
Choppy sloppy wind-waves, becoming cleaner towards dusk… reducing from and 5 feet at dawn to just 3 feet by dusk. Swimming conditions will be best on the east coast for the majority of the day, but the south coast will be increasingly lovely in the afternoon too. Tides will be low around 10am and then high around 4pm (7.7m).
Thursday and Friday
Weather
Thursday will be pretty cloudy all day, with a moderate force 4 ESE’ly breeze, perhaps occasionally touching fresh force 5. The air will be on the cool side in the day time and then mild overnight, so we should see a stead 9-11°C by day and then an even steadier 12°C overnight. Moving on to Friday, as winds veer to a fresh force 5 SSE’ly, the temperature should climb to a decent 14°C under partially sunny skies. However, one will have to seek shelter to feel comfortable… the north and west coasts should be best (just beneath the sea walls.
Surf and the Water
Thursday’s surf will be super-clean but only 2 feet at best. Swimming conditions will be best in the west, especially towards dusk. On Friday, the surf will be much better… roughly 4 feet and just as clean. Swimming conditions will become great on the north coast as well as the west. Tides will be low in the late mornings both days, and high around dusk… 7.9m Thursday, then 8.2m Friday.
The Weekend
Weather
Generally cloudy skies through Saturday, followed by a sunnier skies on Sudnay, albeit with the chance of showers and then the likelihood of more prolonged rain on Sunday night. Winds will still be a little perkier than ideal, force 4-5 S’ly on Saturday increasing to force 5-6 on Sunday. The temperature peaking at a very mild 14-15°C, so it should feel really pleasant in sheltered areas such as Pleinmont and Richmond, or just beneath the L’Ancresse sea-wall.
Surf and the Water
Great quality surf, almost as good as the previous weekend, probably 4 feet on Saturday and then just 2 feet on Sunday. Swimming conditions will be best in the west and in the north (as close to high tide as daylight will allow). Low tides will be around lunchtime. High tides slightly pre-dawn and post-dusk (generally around 8.6m).
Next Week
Weather
An unsettled week, with strong winds most days, alternating between SSW’ly and WNW’ly. The former tending to bring mild and drizzly weather, whilst the latter brings cooler days with a mixed bag of sunshine and showers. Max temperatures will fluctuate between 13-14°C on the mild days and about 11°C on the cooler days.
Surf and the Water
There should be a constant supply of waves that are large enough to surf… sometimes very large. However, they will alternate from very copy one day to super-clean the next. Tides will be high around breakfast time, shrinking gradually from 8.8m to 8.2m. Low tides will be in the afternoons.
The next forecast update will on Friday or Saturday…
