Seven day Guernsey weather forecast for 30 November 2024

Sunday

Weather

A brief spell of rain and drizzle around breakfast time, maybe momentarily causing visibility issues at the airport. However, by mid-morning, we should be looking at partial sunshine and dryness, which is how it should stay until close to dusk. Showers will come and go through the evening and night though, so there will no doubt be puddles on the ground when we wake up on Monday morning. Winds will be rather perky throughout… a force 4-5 S’ly at first, veering SW’ly by mid-morning, then veering to a force 5 or maybe 6 W’ly through the evening. Daytime max temp 15°C but feeling cooler due to the wind. Overnight min temp 9-10°C.

Surf and the Water

Another day of good quality surf, when the tide allows. Waves will be 4-5 feet and super-clan in the morning, then a semi-clean version of the same size in the afternoon. Great winds for windsurfers and kitesurfers too. If you’re swimming then the dawn session at Pembroke would be a good one, then the east coast will generally be better later in the day, when the tide is lower. High water will be around 6:15am and 6:30pm (roughly 8.7m). Low water will be at lunchtime.

Monday

Weather

A cooler NW’ly wind (force 5 and gusty) will bring a couple of brief showers here and there, but the sunshine will be much more plentiful. Temperatures will climb to about 12°C in the day and then fall to a very chilly 6°C as the winds gradually fall light overnight. The most comfortable areas to enjoy the cool December sunshine will be along the south and the east coast.

Surf and the Water

4-5 foot surf again, but really messy on this occasion. Windsurfers and kitesurfers will still be able to have plenty of fun with it though. Swimmers should shoot for sheltered spots along either the south or the east coast. Tides will be high around 7am and pm (8.7m and 8.6m). Low tide will be at lunchtime again.

Tuesday and Wednesday

Weather

These days will be pretty calm and settled (albeit rather cloudy) during daylight hours, but quite a lot wetter and windier during the hours of darkness. Temperatures will likely fluctuate between 7 and 11°C, until some milder air wafts in on Wednesday night, lifting us up to 12 or 13°C for the start of Thursday.

Surf and the Water

The surf will be clean throughout this time, except for early morning Wednesday… 2-3 feet on Tuesday and about 4 feet throughout Wednesday. Swimmers should find smoothness on all coasts through the majority of this time, except for early on Wednesday when the south coast will be head and shoulders above the rest. Tides will be high at breakfast time (8.8m Tuesday, then 8.5m Wednesday) and low in the early/mid-afternoons.

Thursday and Friday

Weather

A couple of standard with W’ly breezes fluctuating between force 4 and force 6. The air always be mild (14°C maxima, 11°C minima). There will be drizzle at times, maybe with a little hill fog, so there could be one or two delays at the airport, but probably nothing too lengthy. The east coast (Town in particular) will always feels warmest.

Surf and the Water

Very choppy 4-6 foot surf throughout this period. Much better for windsurfing and kitesurfing really. Smooth swimming conditions will only really be found at the likes of Fermain or perhaps high-tide Pembroke. Tidal highs will be 8.5m at 8:40am Thursday and then 8.2m at 9:20am Friday. Tidal lows will be in the mid/late afternoons.

The next forecast update will on Tuesday evening…
