Wednesday
Weather
The morning will be dry, windless and partly sunny… just like Tuesday was. However, the afternoon will see the arrival of a fairly stiff SW’ly breeze, along with a steadily thickening sheet of high cloud. The nasty weather won’t be here until the night time though, when the wind will reach strong force 6 and the rain will become persistent and rather heavy. The max daytime temp will be about 11°C, but it won’t stop there because the temperature will actually continue to rise, such that the actual max will be about 14°C late in the night.
Surf and the Water
The surf will be super-clean, but only 2 feet and weak, maybe of some interest to longboarders and SUP riders. Winds will pick up towards dusk, possibly enough to encourage one or two kitesurfers to have a quick blast. Tides will be 8.5m high at 8am then low at 2:30pm.
Thursday
Weather
Cloudy and misty, with occasional drizzle. That’s how simple it is to describe the weather. As for the wind, the story is similarly simple… SW’ly fresh force 5 to strong force 6, bringing very mild air… 14-15°C all day, then dropping to about 10 or 11°C overnight.
Surf and the Water
Fairly choppy 4-5 foot surf, definitely rideable though. Windsurfers and kitesurfers will probably have the most fun of anyone. As for swimming, the east coast will definitely offer the best shelter for that. Tides will be 8.5m high at 8:40am then low at 3pm.
Friday
Weather
A pretty decent day, compared to the one before and the one after. The morning and early afternoon will be dry and occasionally bright, with a moderate NW’ly breeze backing to a light SW’ly. Then from mid-afternoon onward, it will be raining whilst the wind gradually strengthens… reaching fresh force 5 by 6pm, then veering to a strong force 7 NW’ly by midnight. It’s also going to be another one of those topsi-turvy temperature days, with the max of 12-13 degrees coming in the middle of the night.
Surf and the Water
The 6 foot surf will be very choppy to start the day, then getting slightly cleaner hour by hour. Swimming conditions will definitely be best along the east coast. Tides will be 8.2m high at 9:20am then low at 3:500pm.
The Weekend
Weather
The NW’ly wind could reach gale force 8 before dawn, but it should relax to a more ordinary strong force 6 for most of the daylight hours on Saturday, and then a fresh force 5 N’ly on Sunday. The rain will also be heaviest and most persistent in the early hours of Saturday. Thereafter, it will be showery, and as the air cools on Sunday (a max of 8°C, as opposed to Saturday’s 11°C) the odd hammering of hail will not be out of the question.
Surf and the Water
8-10 foot surf and very choppy on the west coast. There should be clean waves down at Petit Port and Petit Bot though… not sure how rideable, it’s aways a gamble down there. Windsurfers and kitesurfers might be tempted to have a bash out west, or perhaps up north. Tides will be high in the late mornings (8.1m and 7.7m respectively). Low tides will be shortly after dusk.
The next forecast update will on Friday…
