Seven day Guernsey weather forecast for 06 February 2025

Thursday

Weather

After enjoying temperatures of 11-12°C in Wednesday’s windless sunshine, we will now have a rather chilly force 4 (occasionally 5) ENE’ly wind. Skies will be mostly sunny, but there will be some cloudier moments, especially in the evening, when there is the slimmest possibility of a shower or two. Temperatures will only reach 8°C for the max. Then, overnight, with increasing cloud and showers, temperatures will gradually fall to a minimum of 4 or 5°C.

Surf and the Water

Some of the recent surf has been a little too big to be ideal. This day will be a corker though… roughly 4-5 feet on the sets. A little bit of a cross component in the wind though, giving a slight wobble in the waves. The tides will be lovely and small though, with a high of about 7m soon after midday. Windsurfing/kitesurfing conditions will be pretty good too, especially in the afternoon.

Friday and Saturday

Weather

Coldness and showers are the common theme of these two days. And in combination, it’s quite possible that we will see the odd flurry of sleet or ice-pellets… more especially on Saturday than on Friday. Winds will be ENE’ly on both days, but there will be a big difference in strength… Friday feeling very chilly with a force 5, Saturday feeling more comfortable with a force 3. Temperatures probably peaking at 5-6°C on Friday and around 7°C on Saturday. Overnight minima of 2 and 3°C respectively (with a ground frost in many places). Sunshine is highly unlikely on Friday, but we might see the odd slither through some cloud-breaks on Saturday.

Surf and the Water

The surf will be 1-2 feet and rather choppy on Friday, then about 3 feet and hopefully quite a bit cleaner on Saturday. Friday will also be good for windsurfers/kitesurfers. Saturday quite good for winter swimmers. Tides will be low around breakfast time and high in the afternoons (only very small… roughly 6.9m).

Sunday and Monday

Weather

Gradually strengthening E’ly winds through these two days, also with an increasing likelihood of showers. This combination of trends actually means that Sunday should be quite nice… with generally gentle breezes, sunny spells and probably a full day of dryness. Monday much windier (getting up to force 5) with cloudier skies and showers. This qualitative description will also be reflected in the numbers, with temperatures likely peaking at 8-9°C on Sunday, but just 6-7°C on Monday.

Surf and the Water

The surf will be two feet and clean on Sunday (also good for a winter swim), then it will be 1 foot and choppy on Sunday (totally disposable for surfers but not too bad for windsurfers/kitesurfers). Tides will be low in the late mornings and high around dusk (7.3m and 7.8m respectively).

The Rest of Next Week

Weather

Moderate ESE’ly winds for the most part. Showers on Tuesday and Wednesday then likely sunny on Thursday and Friday. Temperatures gradually climbing back to double figures for the daily maxima.

Surf and the Water

Clean surf if we are blessed with any. Most likely flat on Tuesday and for much of Wednesday, then hopefully 2-3 feet thereafter. Spring tides again, with highs around dawn and a couple of hours after dusk.

The next forecast update will on Saturday or Sunday…
