Seven day Guernsey weather forecast for 09 February 2025

Image uploaded by Jingles

Monday

Weather

A cold, grey and wet day. The only dry daylight hours (possibly) being close to dusk. The daytime coldness really coming from the moderate force 4 ENE’ly wind (max temp 6°C), the night time coldness coming from the complete lack of wind (min temp 3-4°C).

Surf and the Water

Dribbly 1-2 foot surf, with a little cross-chop from the ENE’ly. Marginally better than flat, but very forgettable compared to recent days. Tides will be low at 11:30am and high (7.8m) at 5:30pm.

Tuesday and Wednesday

Weather

Light force 2-3 ESE’ly breezes will bring cloudy skies to Tuesday. Then, force 3-4 E’ly winds will bring partially sunny skies on Wednesday. Both days should be dry, with the only likelihood of rain being late on Wednesday night. Max temps will be 7-8°C and min temps will be around 4°C. Everywhere should feel equally comfortable on Tuesday, but Wednesday’s slightly stronger breezes will mean that the sheltered southwest will feel the least cold.

Surf and the Water

Another two days of marginally small surf. There should be a clean and rideable moment but when it is so momentary then it’s obviously best to leave the surfers to work that one out themselves. Tides will be low at lunchtime and high a little pre-dawn and post-dusk (increasing from 8.4m to 8.9m).

Thursday and Friday

Weather

The E’ly winds will be moderate force 4 on Thursday and then fresh force 5 on Friday, making both days feel very chilly, before we’ve even factored in the grey skies and occasional rain (perhaps quite prolonged and sleety at times). Temperatures will likely peak at 8°C on Thursday and then 7°C on Friday, but the feels-like temperatures will be more like 4°C and 2°C respectively.

Surf and the Water

Clean 4-5 foot surf. Big tides though, limiting the windows of opportunity and making for some fairly strong currents. Highs will be around dawn (9.2m and 9.3m respectively). Lows will be in the early afternoons.

The Weekend

Weather

Most likely (but far from definitely) dry with partial sunshine on Saturday, followed by grey and occasionally wet on Sunday. The timing of such detail is very difficult to pin down at this range, but that’s the current estimate of the (generally) most reliable computer models. Winds will be force 4-5 ESE’ly, bringing max temps of around 8°C, but probably feeling more like 3°C.

Surf and the Water

The surf will remain clean and very rideable, but possibly reduce to around 3 feet in size. The tidal movements will remain large, with breakfast-time highs of 9.2m and 9m respectively. Low water will be in the mid-afternoons.

The next forecast update will on Tuesday or Wednesday…
