Seven day Guernsey weather forecast for 11 February 2025

Image uploaded by Jingles

Wednesday

Weather

A grey day, with copious low cloud, but only the smallest chance of any mist or drizzle. The air will be slightly milder than on Tuesday, commencing at 5-6°C, then nudging up to about 8°C in the afternoon. Winds will be E’ly, moderate force 4 for the majority of the day, but easing to light force 3 by dusk. Shelter will be required for a relatively comfortable walk or a run, so the area between Eree and Pleinmont will probably be best,

Surf and the Water

Cleanish 1-2 foot surf if we are lucky, but there is quite a high chance of it being flatter than that. Swimming conditions will be best in the west, especially around dawn and dusk when the tide is highest. Low water will be at lunchtime.

Thursday and Friday

Weather

Through these two days, the moderate force 4 to fresh force 5 wind will gradually veer from an ESE’ly direction to a SSE’ly. Skies will likely be overcast throughout, but the timing of rainfall is very uncertain. The current expectation is for the onset to be late evening Thursday and the clearance to be around midday Friday. It could easily turn out to be a few hours later than this though, because it’s coming from the west and it will have a bit of a battle on its hands as it pushes against an opposing surface wind. The total amount will likely be between 5 and 10mm, which is plenty enough for puddles, but nothing too bothersome. Temperatures will hover between 6 and 7°C through Thursday, then 7 and 8°C through Friday, possibly nudging up to 9°C on Friday night.

Surf and the Water

Clean 3-5 foot surf. Big tides though, limiting the windows of opportunity and making for some fairly strong currents. Highs will be around dawn (9.2m and 9.3m respectively). Lows will be in the early afternoons.

The Weekend

Weather

Apart from some patchy light rain late Sunday, we are probably looking at a dry weekend, with mostly cloudy skies but also a few cracks to let the sunshine slip though. The breeze will be quite a stiff SE’ly on Saturday (force 4-5) and then a much gentler SSW’ly on Sunday (probably light force 3). Daily maxima of around 9°C. Nightly minima of about 6°C.

Surf and the Water

The surf will remain clean and reasonably powerful, probably still in the 3-5 foot range. The tidal movements will remain large, with breakfast-time highs of 9.2m and 9m respectively. Low water will be in the mid-afternoons.

Next Week

Weather

A very similar week in terms of wind and weather… mostly cloudy, occasionally wet and moderately breezy with force 4-5 SE’ly winds gradually veering E’ly. Temperatures are looking a tad higher though, with 10°C looking achievable on most days.

Surf and the Water

Another week of clean surf, probably no smaller than 2 feet in the smallest moments, probably no bigger than 6 feet in the biggest. Light winds should frequently be welcomed by winter swimmers. Tides gradually shrinking, such that by Friday the high will only be 6.7m in the late morning.
