Wednesday and Thursday
Weather
Wednesday will be a day of decreasing breezes and increasing sunshine, all resulting in warmer feelings and higher temperatures than the previous few days. We are probably looking at a max of 15°C, which should really feel very spring-like. The night time will probably be on the cool side again though, with a 6°C minimum under mostly clear skies. Thursday will be equally windless, but it’s uncertain how sunny/cloudy the skies will be, therefore there’s a chance that the temperature will be a degree or two lower, but it should still feel lovely and spring-like.
Surf and the Water
A clean 1-3 foot swell should pick up through Wednesday and then fade through Thursday. Both days will be great on all coasts for cold-water swimmers. Tides will be about 7.6m high at 4:35pm Tuesday, then 8.4m high at 5:25pm Wednesday. Low tides will be in the late mornings.
Friday and The Weekend
Weather
This is the more unsettled portion of the forecast, with the exception of sunny Saturday. Friday will have a rainy morning followed by a sunny afternoon, but the whole day will be breezy, with a force 5 W’ly in the morning and NW’ly in the afternoon. As I said, Saturday will be fine and fairly calm again. However, on Sunday, we will see the return of the brisk NW’ly and maybe a few showers during the morning. Temperatures will probably peak around 12-13°C each day, but Saturday, with its relative calmness, will probably stand out as the day that feels warmest.
Surf and the Water
Choppy surf, except perhaps on Saturday, when the wind will be a bit lighter. Size-wise, it’s probably going to remain around 3-5 feet throughout. Swimming conditions will be best along the south and east coasts. Tides will be low around lunchtime and high around breakfast time and dinner time… increasing incrementally from roughly 9m to 9.8m.
Next Week
Weather
Gorgeous windless sunshine throughout Monday, then partial sunshine and a stronger but relatively warm wind through the rest of the week. That wind will be ESE’ly, probably moderate force 4 most days, but maybe fresh force 5 for the odd moment now and then. Temperatures will typically peak between 13 and 15°C each day, but it is possible that one or two days climb a little higher. Overnight temperatures probably won’t fall below 8°C, even under starry skies, due to the presence of that ESE’ly breeze.
Surf and the Water
A full week of clean waves… 1-2 feet at their smallest moments and 3-5 feet at their biggest. The wind will initially be very light and variable, but it will gradually turn into fairly brisk E’ly, possibly brisk enough for kitesurfers and windsurfers to join the wetsuited throng. Tides will be high in the mornings (shrinking incrementally from a whopping 10m on Monday to a modest 7.7m on Friday). Low tides will be in the afternoons.
The next forecast update will be on Saturday morning…
